How far will your data go?
Choose an allowance to see what it could cover. Quality, compression and background activity change actual usage.
With 3 GB, approximately…
Send photos
≈ 600 photosExample: 5 MB per photo
Upload your own videos
≈ 47 clipsExample: a 1-minute Full HD clip ≈ 63 MB
Watch video
≈ 1 hrHD example: 3 GB per hour
At standard quality: ≈ 4 hr 17 min
Make video calls
≈ 2 hr 46 min1:1 at 720p: ≈ 1.08 GB per hour
Each result uses the whole allowance for that one activity. The results do not add up: maps, messages and other apps share the same data.
Taking photos or recording video on your phone does not itself use mobile data. Sending, watching or backing them up over the mobile network does.

Where these estimates come from
Planning examples, not guaranteed totals. We use 1 GB = 1,000 MB, round down complete files and minutes, and exclude overhead, retries and background traffic.
- 5 MB is Verizon’s high-resolution photo example. Your files can be smaller after compression or much larger as originals or RAW. Check the actual file size on your phone. Verizon ↗
- 63 MB models a 1-minute H.264 Full HD export at 24–30 fps using YouTube’s recommended video and stereo audio bitrates. It is not a universal camera-file size or the cost of watching a clip. YouTube ↗
- Viewing examples use Netflix’s published rates: up to 0.7 GB/hr at Medium and up to 3 GB/hr in HD. Other apps and quality settings can differ; these are not YouTube playback rates. Netflix ↗
- The call example uses Zoom’s 1:1 720p bandwidth: 1.2 Mbps up and 1.2 Mbps down, together about 1.08 GB/hr. Group calls and higher resolutions can use more. Zoom ↗

On iOS 26, a Turn On Travel eSIM notification may appear after arrival. Choose the travel line for data and check whether you also want to keep your home line active. If no notification appears, use the manual steps below.
Check when your package starts: at payment, installation or first connection. If it starts on installation, install nearer your trip. Installing later does not postpone a package that started at payment.
These screens show settings on the models named below. Your operator and eSIM labels will differ. Screens retain the source language; each caption translates and identifies the control to use. Tap any image for a closer look.

Give the new line a clear name
For example, “Letisim Chile”, so you can distinguish it from your home SIM. This is a label on your phone; it does not change the number or plan.
iPhone: Settings → Cellular / Mobile Service → new eSIM → Cellular Plan Label → Custom
Google Pixel / Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → new eSIM → Edit name
Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → new eSIM → Name
Huawei: SIM management → SIM 2 → your eSIM → Card name. You can keep the existing label if no rename option is shown.
Honor: SIM management → SIM 2 → eSIM name. Rename it if your MagicOS version offers this option.
Xiaomi / Redmi: Manage eSIM → your plan → Change nickname, if available.
Motorola: Open the new eSIM in SIM settings and use the edit-name option if available.
OPPO: Open the installed profile in eSIM settings and change its label if your ColorOS version allows it.
OnePlus: Open the installed eSIM and edit its name if the option is available.
Line name: Letisim Chile

Check roaming in your package guide
If your eSIM instructions require data roaming, enable it for the Letisim line. Keep data roaming off on your home SIM. If an APN is specified, use the exact value in your own package’s guide.
iPhone: Settings → Cellular / Mobile Service → Letisim → Data Roaming (sometimes under Cellular Data Options)
Google Pixel / Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Letisim → Roaming
Samsung: First select Letisim for mobile data, then Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Data roaming
Huawei: Open Mobile network → Mobile data and check data roaming for the travel SIM. Follow the settings in your package guide.
Honor: In the mobile-network settings, open the travel SIM’s data settings and enable roaming only if your package requires it.
Xiaomi / Redmi: In Mobile networks, open the travel SIM’s data-roaming settings. Use the roaming and APN values from your package guide.
Motorola: Open the travel eSIM’s network settings and check Roaming against your package instructions.
OPPO: Open the travel SIM’s mobile-network settings and enable data roaming if required by your package.
OnePlus: Open the travel SIM’s settings and check Data roaming against the instructions for your own package.

Check your connection
Turn off Wi-Fi and open a map or website. If it loads, mobile data is working. If it does not, turn airplane mode on for about 30 seconds, turn it off and wait for a connection. Recheck the selected line and package settings.

No second screen for your QR code?
If the scanner has a gallery button, save the QR from your order and choose that image. If your order includes manual installation details, choose Enter details manually and copy the fields exactly. The available methods depend on your phone and eSIM. If neither is available, contact support; do not scan a sample code from this guide or delete an installed eSIM.
Menu names can differ by phone model and system version.
04 / Operators
Mobile operators in Chile
Compare network coverage separately from speed. A national result does not predict reception inside your hotel or along a mountain road.
Chile’s national mobile operators listed by the regulator are Entel PCS, Telefónica Móviles Chile (Movistar), Claro Chile, WOM and VTR. For a travel eSIM, the exact network still depends on the package page, and coverage should be checked for the addresses on your route.
Entel
Entel publishes mobile coverage information, and its help article explains how to search by locality or address for 3G, 4G and 5G service. [1] [2] [3]
Check coverage ↗Movistar
Movistar publishes a mobile coverage map that can be checked before travel for the places on your route. [1] [4]
Check coverage ↗Claro Chile
Claro’s mobile service pages link to coverage information, and its help article explains how to review availability. Check Claro’s current coverage information on its site before choosing a package. [1] [5] [6]
Official website ↗WOM
WOM provides a mobile coverage page for checking likely service at destinations on your trip. [1] [7]
Check coverage ↗VTR
VTR publishes a mobile coverage map that can be checked before travel for a destination area or address. [1] [8]
Check coverage ↗The network in your chosen package is what matters. This country comparison does not mean every plan includes every operator. 5G depends on the package, phone and local coverage.
05 / Coverage
Coverage across Chile
Check the addresses and roads you will actually use. Save maps and booking details before leaving Wi-Fi.
- Santiago
- Viña del Mar and the central coast
- Lauca National Park and the northern highlands
- Chiloé Island
Santiago
For airport transfers, metro changes and hotel check-in, verify the exact accommodation address instead of assuming all of Santiago performs the same. App Red is useful for bus, Metro and MetroTren Nos trip planning, and offline maps help for the first transfer after landing. [9] [10] [11] [13] [2] [4]
Viña del Mar and the central coast
On the central coast, hillside streets, hotel interiors and movement between the waterfront and town can affect day-to-day signal. Check the address of your stay and the roads you expect to use between stations, beaches and viewpoints. [9] [11] [2] [4] [7]
Lauca National Park and the northern highlands
For highland routes, smaller settlements and park areas, save offline maps and key booking details before longer travel days. Check coverage for each overnight stop separately instead of assuming the nearest city represents the whole route. [10] [11] [2] [3] [4]
Chiloé Island
For island stays, verify coverage at the exact lodging address and keep offline navigation ready for longer day trips between towns and coastal areas. Saving essential reservations on your phone is a practical backup for travel days. [10] [11] [7] [8]
Chile · eSIM
What to know before buying a Chile eSIM
Chile covers dense cities, long coastal stretches, islands and remote-looking road sections, so mobile service can feel different even within the same day. A hotel room, a waterfront road, a hillside street and a transfer point may not perform the same way. The safest approach is to start with your real itinerary, then check coverage for the exact places where you will sleep, arrive, transfer and spend time. Saving offline maps is a practical backup for longer travel days.
Chile’s regulator lists Entel PCS, Movistar, Claro Chile, WOM and VTR as national mobile operators, but that does not mean every travel eSIM package uses every network. The package page is the authoritative place to confirm which network your eSIM uses and when validity starts. After that, compare each operator’s own coverage information for your accommodation and route. For most travellers, mobile data is mainly about navigation, bookings, transport planning and staying reachable without depending on hotel Wi-Fi.
Useful apps and travel tools

Before you buy
Choose by route, not by brand alone
Chile has several national mobile operators, but the most useful comparison for a traveller is still the exact route: where you sleep, where you change transport and which parks, beaches or towns you will actually visit. The package page is the right place to confirm the network on your eSIM, while operator coverage information is the right place to check your destinations. [1] [14] [2] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]
Official tools worth saving before the trip

In Santiago, App Red is the official public transport app for planning bus, Metro and MetroTren Nos journeys. Together they cover trip planning and city transport well. [9] [10] [11] [12] [13]
06 / FAQ
Questions about eSIM in Chile
Which network will my Chile eSIM use?
That depends on the package you choose. Chile’s national mobile operators include Entel PCS, Movistar, Claro Chile, WOM and VTR, but the package page is the authoritative place to confirm the network for your eSIM. In the current public catalog, Chile package network information includes WOM. [1] [14]
How do I check coverage before buying?
Use the operator’s own coverage information for the hotel, apartment or stop on your route. Entel, Movistar, WOM and VTR publish direct coverage pages, while Claro points customers to coverage information from its mobile service pages and help article. Address-level checking is more useful than assuming a whole city or region will behave the same. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]
Is one network best for all of Chile?
No. Chile includes large cities, coastal resort areas, islands, highland routes and long southern travel days, so mobile experience varies by destination and even by building. Compare coverage for the exact stops on your itinerary instead of choosing by brand alone. [9] [10] [11] [2] [4] [7] [8]
What should I prepare for Santiago and the central coast?
Check the exact accommodation address before you travel and keep navigation ready for airport, bus or coastal transfers. In Santiago, App Red is the official tool for bus, Metro and MetroTren Nos trip planning, while Chile Travel’s official website is useful for destination ideas and area guides. [9] [11] [12] [13] [2] [4]
What about Lauca, Chiloé or Patagonia-style routes?
For northern highlands, island stays and longer southern travel days, download offline maps and save essential booking details before you set out. Check coverage separately for each overnight stop and do not assume the nearest large town represents the whole route. [9] [10] [11] [2] [3] [4] [7] [8]
When should I install the eSIM for Chile?
Check the start rule on your chosen package before you install it or switch it on for data. In the public catalog, some packages can start on first connection while others may start earlier, so the package page is the best place to confirm timing. If your package rules allow it, setting up your phone before departure can make arrival simpler. [14]
