How far will your data go?
Choose an allowance to see what it could cover. Quality, compression and background activity change actual usage.
With 3 GB, approximately…
Send photos
≈ 600 photosExample: 5 MB per photo
Upload your own videos
≈ 47 clipsExample: a 1-minute Full HD clip ≈ 63 MB
Watch video
≈ 1 hrHD example: 3 GB per hour
At standard quality: ≈ 4 hr 17 min
Make video calls
≈ 2 hr 46 min1:1 at 720p: ≈ 1.08 GB per hour
Each result uses the whole allowance for that one activity. The results do not add up: maps, messages and other apps share the same data.
Taking photos or recording video on your phone does not itself use mobile data. Sending, watching or backing them up over the mobile network does.

Where these estimates come from
Planning examples, not guaranteed totals. We use 1 GB = 1,000 MB, round down complete files and minutes, and exclude overhead, retries and background traffic.
- 5 MB is Verizon’s high-resolution photo example. Your files can be smaller after compression or much larger as originals or RAW. Check the actual file size on your phone. Verizon ↗
- 63 MB models a 1-minute H.264 Full HD export at 24–30 fps using YouTube’s recommended video and stereo audio bitrates. It is not a universal camera-file size or the cost of watching a clip. YouTube ↗
- Viewing examples use Netflix’s published rates: up to 0.7 GB/hr at Medium and up to 3 GB/hr in HD. Other apps and quality settings can differ; these are not YouTube playback rates. Netflix ↗
- The call example uses Zoom’s 1:1 720p bandwidth: 1.2 Mbps up and 1.2 Mbps down, together about 1.08 GB/hr. Group calls and higher resolutions can use more. Zoom ↗

On iOS 26, a Turn On Travel eSIM notification may appear after arrival. Choose the travel line for data and check whether you also want to keep your home line active. If no notification appears, use the manual steps below.
Check when your package starts: at payment, installation or first connection. If it starts on installation, install nearer your trip. Installing later does not postpone a package that started at payment.
These screens show settings on the models named below. Your operator and eSIM labels will differ. Screens retain the source language; each caption translates and identifies the control to use. Tap any image for a closer look.

Give the new line a clear name
For example, “Letisim United States”, so you can distinguish it from your home SIM. This is a label on your phone; it does not change the number or plan.
iPhone: Settings → Cellular / Mobile Service → new eSIM → Cellular Plan Label → Custom
Google Pixel / Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → new eSIM → Edit name
Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → new eSIM → Name
Huawei: SIM management → SIM 2 → your eSIM → Card name. You can keep the existing label if no rename option is shown.
Honor: SIM management → SIM 2 → eSIM name. Rename it if your MagicOS version offers this option.
Xiaomi / Redmi: Manage eSIM → your plan → Change nickname, if available.
Motorola: Open the new eSIM in SIM settings and use the edit-name option if available.
OPPO: Open the installed profile in eSIM settings and change its label if your ColorOS version allows it.
OnePlus: Open the installed eSIM and edit its name if the option is available.
Line name: Letisim United States

No second screen for your QR code?
If the scanner has a gallery button, save the QR from your order and choose that image. If your order includes manual installation details, choose Enter details manually and copy the fields exactly. The available methods depend on your phone and eSIM. If neither is available, contact support; do not scan a sample code from this guide or delete an installed eSIM.

04 / Operators
Mobile operators in the United States
Compare network coverage separately from speed. A national result does not predict reception inside your hotel or along a mountain road.
This page lists researched nationwide mobile networks in the United States based on official carrier coverage tools and FCC material: AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. It does not mean every Letisim package includes every network.
AT&T
Use the public map to check approximate outdoor mobile coverage by address, city or ZIP code for the places on your route. [1] [2]
Check coverage ↗T-Mobile
Search by address or landmark to compare approximate coverage in the areas where you expect to use mobile data most. [1] [4]
Check coverage ↗Verizon
Verizon’s public map helps you check approximate outdoor mobile coverage by address before you travel. [1] [3]
Check coverage ↗The network in your chosen package is what matters. This country comparison does not mean every plan includes every operator. 5G depends on the package, phone and local coverage.
05 / Coverage
Coverage across the United States
Check the addresses and roads you will actually use. Save maps and booking details before leaving Wi-Fi.
- Washington, D.C.
- Los Angeles
- Grand Canyon National Park and South Rim area
- Arizona
Washington, D.C.
In central Washington, D.C., mobile data is most useful for maps and Metro planning. Keeping transit tools ready makes station changes and museum-heavy days easier to manage. [8] [10]
Los Angeles
Los Angeles is spread out, so repeated map checks and real-time transit updates are practical through the day. The official LA Metro app is useful if your trip mixes several parts of the city. [9] [10]
Grand Canyon National Park and South Rim area
The National Park Service says cellular and internet access can vary across parks and visitor areas. Download offline maps before leaving the highway, and do not rely on a constant connection inside the park. [6] [7] [10]
Arizona
If your Arizona itinerary includes park areas or scenic stops, save offline maps and key addresses in advance. That makes route checks easier when mobile service is less predictable. [6] [10]

How connectivity works
The United States has three researched nationwide mobile networks in current FCC material: AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. For travelers, the useful question is not which brand sounds best in general, but which network looks better for the exact places on the trip: your airport, hotel, city neighborhoods, highway stretches and any park entrances. Public coverage maps are estimates, so they are best used as a comparison tool rather than a promise of identical service everywhere.
That matters because a U.S. itinerary can change quickly from dense urban streets to long drives or park roads. In Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles, mobile data is often used for navigation and transit updates throughout the day. In national parks, the National Park Service notes that cellular and internet access can vary across visitor areas, so offline maps are a practical backup. Before you buy, also check the package page for the included network and whether validity starts at purchase or on first connection.
Useful apps and travel tools
SmarTrip ↗
Official WMATA app for the Washington, D.C. area. Useful for managing SmarTrip on the go. [8]
LA Metro App ↗
Official LA Metro app with real-time arrivals, directions and service alerts for Los Angeles County transit. [9]
Google Maps ↗
Google Maps supports downloaded offline areas, which helps with navigation when you do not want to depend on a live connection. [10]
Before you buy
Check the exact route before you choose
AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon all publish public coverage tools. They are estimates rather than guarantees, but they are the most practical way to compare the neighborhoods, highways and stops on your itinerary. [2] [3] [4]
City trips and park trips use data differently
In cities, travelers lean on navigation and transit updates. In parks, offline maps and saved directions matter more because service can vary across visitor areas. [6] [8] [9] [10]
Prepare key apps before the trip
Transit tools for Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles, plus Google Maps offline areas, are easier to use when everything is set up in advance. [8] [9] [10]
06 / FAQ
Questions about eSIM in the United States
Which network should I choose for a trip to the United States?
Start with the exact places on your route: airport, hotel, city neighborhoods, highway stops and any parks. AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon all publish public coverage maps, so the practical choice is the network that looks strongest for your own itinerary rather than the best-known brand in general. [1] [2] [3] [4]
Will one eSIM work for both cities and national parks?
Often yes, if the package fits your usage. City days usually depend on navigation and transit tools, while park visits benefit from offline maps because the National Park Service says access can vary across visitor areas. [6] [8] [9] [10]
Can I rely on coverage maps for the Grand Canyon or Arizona?
Use them for planning, not as guarantees. The National Park Service notes that cellular and internet access can vary in parks, so it is smart to download offline maps before leaving the highway and treat live service as something that may change by location. [6] [7] [10]
Do I need special apps for Washington, D.C. or Los Angeles?
Not necessarily, but the official transit tools are useful. SmarTrip helps with WMATA travel in Washington, D.C., and the LA Metro App provides real-time arrivals, directions and service alerts in Los Angeles. Google Maps offline areas are a practical backup for navigation. [8] [9] [10]
When should I install the eSIM?
If your phone supports eSIM and the package instructions allow it, installing before the trip is usually more convenient. Do not assume one universal start rule, though: the package page is authoritative, and validity may begin at purchase or on first connection depending on the package. [11]
How much data should I choose for the United States?
Choose based on trip length and how you use your phone: online maps, messaging, social apps, photo uploads and streaming all change the total. A short city break usually needs less than a longer trip with daily navigation, but the best fit depends on your habits rather than the destination alone. [8] [9] [10]
