How far will your data go?
Choose an allowance to see what it could cover. Quality, compression and background activity change actual usage.
With 3 GB, approximately…
Send photos
≈ 600 photosExample: 5 MB per photo
Upload your own videos
≈ 47 clipsExample: a 1-minute Full HD clip ≈ 63 MB
Watch video
≈ 1 hrHD example: 3 GB per hour
At standard quality: ≈ 4 hr 17 min
Make video calls
≈ 2 hr 46 min1:1 at 720p: ≈ 1.08 GB per hour
Each result uses the whole allowance for that one activity. The results do not add up: maps, messages and other apps share the same data.
Taking photos or recording video on your phone does not itself use mobile data. Sending, watching or backing them up over the mobile network does.

Where these estimates come from
Planning examples, not guaranteed totals. We use 1 GB = 1,000 MB, round down complete files and minutes, and exclude overhead, retries and background traffic.
- 5 MB is Verizon’s high-resolution photo example. Your files can be smaller after compression or much larger as originals or RAW. Check the actual file size on your phone. Verizon ↗
- 63 MB models a 1-minute H.264 Full HD export at 24–30 fps using YouTube’s recommended video and stereo audio bitrates. It is not a universal camera-file size or the cost of watching a clip. YouTube ↗
- Viewing examples use Netflix’s published rates: up to 0.7 GB/hr at Medium and up to 3 GB/hr in HD. Other apps and quality settings can differ; these are not YouTube playback rates. Netflix ↗
- The call example uses Zoom’s 1:1 720p bandwidth: 1.2 Mbps up and 1.2 Mbps down, together about 1.08 GB/hr. Group calls and higher resolutions can use more. Zoom ↗

On iOS 26, a Turn On Travel eSIM notification may appear after arrival. Choose the travel line for data and check whether you also want to keep your home line active. If no notification appears, use the manual steps below.
Check when your package starts: at payment, installation or first connection. If it starts on installation, install nearer your trip. Installing later does not postpone a package that started at payment.
These screens show settings on the models named below. Your operator and eSIM labels will differ. Screens retain the source language; each caption translates and identifies the control to use. Tap any image for a closer look.

Give the new line a clear name
For example, “Letisim Mayotte”, so you can distinguish it from your home SIM. This is a label on your phone; it does not change the number or plan.
iPhone: Settings → Cellular / Mobile Service → new eSIM → Cellular Plan Label → Custom
Google Pixel / Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → new eSIM → Edit name
Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → new eSIM → Name
Huawei: SIM management → SIM 2 → your eSIM → Card name. You can keep the existing label if no rename option is shown.
Honor: SIM management → SIM 2 → eSIM name. Rename it if your MagicOS version offers this option.
Xiaomi / Redmi: Manage eSIM → your plan → Change nickname, if available.
Motorola: Open the new eSIM in SIM settings and use the edit-name option if available.
OPPO: Open the installed profile in eSIM settings and change its label if your ColorOS version allows it.
OnePlus: Open the installed eSIM and edit its name if the option is available.
Line name: Letisim Mayotte

Check roaming in your package guide
If your eSIM instructions require data roaming, enable it for the Letisim line. Keep data roaming off on your home SIM. If an APN is specified, use the exact value in your own package’s guide.
iPhone: Settings → Cellular / Mobile Service → Letisim → Data Roaming (sometimes under Cellular Data Options)
Google Pixel / Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Letisim → Roaming
Samsung: First select Letisim for mobile data, then Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Data roaming

Honor: In the mobile-network settings, open the travel SIM’s data settings and enable roaming only if your package requires it.
Xiaomi / Redmi: In Mobile networks, open the travel SIM’s data-roaming settings. Use the roaming and APN values from your package guide.
Motorola: Open the travel eSIM’s network settings and check Roaming against your package instructions.
OPPO: Open the travel SIM’s mobile-network settings and enable data roaming if required by your package.
OnePlus: Open the travel SIM’s settings and check Data roaming against the instructions for your own package.

Check your connection
Turn off Wi-Fi and open a map or website. If it loads, mobile data is working. If it does not, turn airplane mode on for about 30 seconds, turn it off and wait for a connection. Recheck the selected line and package settings.

No second screen for your QR code?
If the scanner has a gallery button, save the QR from your order and choose that image. If your order includes manual installation details, choose Enter details manually and copy the fields exactly. The available methods depend on your phone and eSIM. If neither is available, contact support; do not scan a sample code from this guide or delete an installed eSIM.

04 / Operators
Mobile operators in Mayotte
Compare network coverage separately from speed. A national result does not predict reception inside your hotel or along a mountain road.
This list is a researched set of the public mobile operators we could verify for Mayotte from regulator material and operator coverage pages. It is not a promise that every Letisim plan includes every network.
Orange Mayotte
Orange publishes a public mobile coverage map and a live network-status page for Mayotte, so travellers can check the places they will actually use rather than relying on a general promise. [1] [3] [4]
Check coverage ↗SFR Mayotte
SFR Mayotte provides a public coverage page and a separate incident page for its mobile network in Mayotte. [1] [5] [6]
Check coverage ↗Telco OI / Only Mayotte
ARCEP records referenced in the collected sources point to this operator as part of the Mayotte mobile market, but a public coverage tool was not verified here. [1] [2] [7]
Official website ↗The network in your chosen package is what matters. This country comparison does not mean every plan includes every operator. 5G depends on the package, phone and local coverage.
05 / Coverage
Coverage across Mayotte
Check the addresses and roads you will actually use. Save maps and booking details before leaving Wi-Fi.
- Mamoudzou
- Petite-Terre and the airport side
- Southern coast and beach routes
- Lake Dziani area
Mamoudzou
Mamoudzou is the most practical base for arrivals, everyday errands and city use. Check your hotel, port access and road-transfer areas specifically, because those are the places where travellers notice connectivity most. [8] [7]
Petite-Terre and the airport side
This is the arrival side of Mayotte, with the airport and the barge link to Grande-Terre. Set up and test your eSIM before the transfer, then keep data ready for maps, messages and meeting-point changes during the crossing. [7] [8]
Southern coast and beach routes
For southern drives and beach stops, rely on operator coverage pages for the exact places on your route. If your day mixes driving, swimming and photos, a plan with enough data for repeated navigation and messaging is more useful than a bare-minimum allowance. [9] [4] [5]
Lake Dziani area
Around the crater-lake area, mobile use is mostly about navigation, photos and coordination before and after the visit. Save offline maps in advance so you are not dependent on a continuous signal during the walk. [8] [11]
Mayotte · eSIM
How mobile internet works here
Mayotte’s public mobile market is shaped by Arcep’s frequency and licensing decisions, while Orange Mayotte and SFR Mayotte provide public coverage tools that let travellers check the exact places they care about. That matters more than a broad slogan, because practical use usually depends on where you sleep, where you land and which roads or crossing points you actually use.
The most useful way to choose an eSIM is to match it to your route and habits. If your days include the airport side, the ferry crossing, Mamoudzou and southern coastal stops, you will usually benefit from enough data for navigation, messaging and ride coordination. A sensible allowance plus a quick coverage check is more valuable than guessing a universal winner from afar.
Useful apps and travel tools
GariCo Mobilités à Mayotte ↗
A local mobility app for Mayotte that combines ride coordination with ferry and bus information. [10]
Google Maps ↗
Useful for offline maps, place searches and familiar route planning on the island. [11]
Before you buy
Airport arrival and the ferry crossing
The easiest time to finish setup is while you still have stable Wi‑Fi. If your itinerary includes the ferry between Petite-Terre and Grande-Terre, having data ready helps with timing, directions and meeting points as soon as you land. [7] [8] [10]
Choosing how much data to buy
For maps, taxi coordination, messaging and a few photos, a smaller plan may be enough. If you expect repeated island transfers, hotspot use or long days away from your accommodation, a larger allowance is usually the safer choice. [3] [4] [5] [8] [9]
06 / FAQ
Questions about eSIM in Mayotte
Which network should I choose for a trip to Mayotte?
Start with the coverage pages for the places you will actually use: airport arrival areas, your hotel, Mamoudzou, the ferry link and any beach or south-coast stops. Orange and SFR Mayotte both publish public tools, so they are the easiest to compare before you buy. Telco OI / Only Mayotte is also part of the market references in the collected regulator material, but the right choice still depends on your route and data use, not on one universal winner. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]
Is a small data plan enough for Mayotte?
It can be enough if you mainly need maps, messages, taxi coordination and a few photos. If you expect repeated cross-island travel, hotspot use or long days away from your accommodation, a larger plan is safer. In practice, a bit of spare data is usually more useful than relying on coverage alone to keep usage low. [3] [4] [8] [9]
Should I install the eSIM before or after arrival?
Before arrival is usually easier. That gives you a stable connection for the QR scan and setup steps, and it avoids the stress of looking for Wi‑Fi right after landing. It is especially helpful if your itinerary includes the airport side and then the ferry to Grande-Terre, because ready-to-use data helps with directions and meeting points immediately. [7] [10]
Can I rely on coverage outside Mamoudzou?
Often yes, but it is better to check each route separately instead of assuming the same experience everywhere. Use the operator map for your exact stops, especially if you will spend time on Petite-Terre, travel across the ferry corridor, or drive the southern coast. For walks and viewpoints, offline maps are still worth downloading in advance. [4] [5] [8] [9] [11]
What apps are useful once I land?
GariCo Mobilités à Mayotte is the most destination-specific option, because it combines ride coordination with ferry and bus information. Google Maps is a strong companion for offline maps and familiar route planning. Together they cover the main needs of most travellers: getting from the airport, crossing the ferry, finding places and keeping an eye on timing. [10] [11]
