How far will your data go?
Choose an allowance to see what it could cover. Quality, compression and background activity change actual usage.
With 3 GB, approximately…
Send photos
≈ 600 photosExample: 5 MB per photo
Upload your own videos
≈ 47 clipsExample: a 1-minute Full HD clip ≈ 63 MB
Watch video
≈ 1 hrHD example: 3 GB per hour
At standard quality: ≈ 4 hr 17 min
Make video calls
≈ 2 hr 46 min1:1 at 720p: ≈ 1.08 GB per hour
Each result uses the whole allowance for that one activity. The results do not add up: maps, messages and other apps share the same data.
Taking photos or recording video on your phone does not itself use mobile data. Sending, watching or backing them up over the mobile network does.

Where these estimates come from
Planning examples, not guaranteed totals. We use 1 GB = 1,000 MB, round down complete files and minutes, and exclude overhead, retries and background traffic.
- 5 MB is Verizon’s high-resolution photo example. Your files can be smaller after compression or much larger as originals or RAW. Check the actual file size on your phone. Verizon ↗
- 63 MB models a 1-minute H.264 Full HD export at 24–30 fps using YouTube’s recommended video and stereo audio bitrates. It is not a universal camera-file size or the cost of watching a clip. YouTube ↗
- Viewing examples use Netflix’s published rates: up to 0.7 GB/hr at Medium and up to 3 GB/hr in HD. Other apps and quality settings can differ; these are not YouTube playback rates. Netflix ↗
- The call example uses Zoom’s 1:1 720p bandwidth: 1.2 Mbps up and 1.2 Mbps down, together about 1.08 GB/hr. Group calls and higher resolutions can use more. Zoom ↗

On iOS 26, a Turn On Travel eSIM notification may appear after arrival. Choose the travel line for data and check whether you also want to keep your home line active. If no notification appears, use the manual steps below.
Check when your package starts: at payment, installation or first connection. If it starts on installation, install nearer your trip. Installing later does not postpone a package that started at payment.
These screens show settings on the models named below. Your operator and eSIM labels will differ. Screens retain the source language; each caption translates and identifies the control to use. Tap any image for a closer look.

Give the new line a clear name
For example, “Letisim Algeria”, so you can distinguish it from your home SIM. This is a label on your phone; it does not change the number or plan.
iPhone: Settings → Cellular / Mobile Service → new eSIM → Cellular Plan Label → Custom
Google Pixel / Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → new eSIM → Edit name
Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → new eSIM → Name
Huawei: SIM management → SIM 2 → your eSIM → Card name. You can keep the existing label if no rename option is shown.
Honor: SIM management → SIM 2 → eSIM name. Rename it if your MagicOS version offers this option.
Xiaomi / Redmi: Manage eSIM → your plan → Change nickname, if available.
Motorola: Open the new eSIM in SIM settings and use the edit-name option if available.
OPPO: Open the installed profile in eSIM settings and change its label if your ColorOS version allows it.
OnePlus: Open the installed eSIM and edit its name if the option is available.
Line name: Letisim Algeria

No second screen for your QR code?
If the scanner has a gallery button, save the QR from your order and choose that image. If your order includes manual installation details, choose Enter details manually and copy the fields exactly. The available methods depend on your phone and eSIM. If neither is available, contact support; do not scan a sample code from this guide or delete an installed eSIM.
Menu names can differ by phone model and system version.
04 / Operators
Mobile operators in Algeria
Compare network coverage separately from speed. A national result does not predict reception inside your hotel or along a mountain road.
ARPCE identifies Mobilis, Djezzy and Ooredoo as Algeria’s national mobile networks. For travel, compare the network used by your package and check coverage information for the cities and roads you plan to use.
Mobilis
Mobilis provides a public mobile coverage map. Check the towns and routes you plan to use, especially if your trip mixes city stays and longer road sections. [2] [3] [6]
Check coverage ↗Djezzy
Djezzy publishes official network-expansion updates rather than a public mobile coverage map. Use those updates as general planning help and keep offline maps for longer drives. [2] [4] [6]
Official website ↗Ooredoo
Ooredoo publishes official rollout updates rather than a public mobile coverage map. They can help with route planning, but you should still prepare offline essentials for exact stops and road segments. [2] [5] [6]
Official website ↗| Operator | Coverage Experience / 10 | Download · Mbps | Study date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mobilis | 8.6 | — | 2025-04[6] |
| Djezzy | 6.4 | — | 2025-04[6] |
| Ooredoo | 6.3 | — | 2025-04[6] |
Coverage Experience is a score, not a percentage of territory. These dated averages are not promised speeds for your connection.
The network in your chosen package is what matters. This country comparison does not mean every plan includes every operator. 5G depends on the package, phone and local coverage.
05 / Coverage
Coverage across Algeria
Check the addresses and roads you will actually use. Save maps and booking details before leaving Wi-Fi.
- Algiers and the northern coast
- Sétif and Djemila
- Ghardaïa and the M’zab Valley
- Tassili and the far south
Algiers and the northern coast
For Algiers stays and coastal day trips, mobile data is most useful for maps, hotel messages, ride booking and public transport planning. Save key addresses before leaving the city if your day includes several stops. [7] [8] [9] [10]
Sétif and Djemila
For this inland heritage route, keep offline directions, tickets and booking details on your phone. It is a simple way to move between Sétif and Djemila without depending on café Wi‑Fi. [7] [8]
Ghardaïa and the M’zab Valley
Download maps and accommodation contacts before the drive. For most travelers here, the main needs are navigation, messages and access to reservations, not necessarily the biggest package. [7] [8]
Tassili and the far south
Before leaving a major town, save route notes, accommodation details and meeting points on your phone. Offline maps are especially useful on long transfer days. [7] [8]

Overview
Algeria’s national mobile market is served by Mobilis, Djezzy and Ooredoo, according to ARPCE’s operator list and market reporting. For travelers, this is the practical starting point: when you compare an eSIM package, look at the package screen to see which local network it uses and remember that one package does not mean every package in the catalog uses the same partner network.
Your best package depends more on route and usage than on a single headline claim. Algiers and the northern coast usually need reliable data for maps, hotel messages and transport or ride apps, while inland heritage stops and longer southern drives are easier when you also save offline maps, addresses and booking details. Mobilis offers a public mobile coverage map, while Djezzy and Ooredoo publish network-expansion updates, so coverage checks are best treated as planning help rather than a guarantee for every street or road section.
Useful apps and travel tools
Yassir ↗
Official Yassir service for city rides and delivery in Algeria. Useful for airport transfers, in-town trips and ordering to your accommodation. [9]
El Metro ↗
Official Algiers Metro app from SEMA for tickets, QR functions and trip information in the capital. [10]
Before you buy
Check when your package starts
Package validity can start on first connection or from purchase, depending on the package. Install and enable it only after checking the package screen, because that screen is the authoritative start rule. [11]
Prepare offline backups for longer routes
If your itinerary combines major cities with inland or southern road sections, save maps, hotel details and key messages on the phone before departure. Downloaded content is useful when you want less dependence on live coverage. [7] [8]
06 / FAQ
Questions about eSIM in Algeria
Which mobile networks should I compare for Algeria?
ARPCE identifies Mobilis, Djezzy and Ooredoo as Algeria’s national mobile networks. These are the operator names you will usually see in coverage information and network references for travel packages. [1] [2]
Will every Algeria eSIM use the same local network?
No. The public catalog shows supplier networks for Algeria packages, but one package does not mean every package uses the same network. Always check the package screen before purchase to confirm the exact network used by that package. [11]
Can I check coverage before I buy?
Yes, but treat it as trip planning rather than a guarantee. Mobilis provides a public mobile coverage map, while Djezzy and Ooredoo publish official network-expansion updates instead of a public map. [3] [4] [5]
Is one operator best for the whole country?
Not for every trip. Opensignal’s April 2025 figures are country-level measurements, so they help you compare overall Coverage Experience across Algeria, but they cannot predict the exact result for a specific hotel, neighborhood or road section. [6]
When should I install and activate my eSIM?
Check the package start rule first. Depending on the package, validity may start on first connection or from purchase, so it is best to install and switch it on only after confirming the rule shown on the package screen. [11]
