How far will your data go?
Choose an allowance to see what it could cover. Quality, compression and background activity change actual usage.
With 3 GB, approximately…
Send photos
≈ 600 photosExample: 5 MB per photo
Upload your own videos
≈ 47 clipsExample: a 1-minute Full HD clip ≈ 63 MB
Watch video
≈ 1 hrHD example: 3 GB per hour
At standard quality: ≈ 4 hr 17 min
Make video calls
≈ 2 hr 46 min1:1 at 720p: ≈ 1.08 GB per hour
Each result uses the whole allowance for that one activity. The results do not add up: maps, messages and other apps share the same data.
Taking photos or recording video on your phone does not itself use mobile data. Sending, watching or backing them up over the mobile network does.

Where these estimates come from
Planning examples, not guaranteed totals. We use 1 GB = 1,000 MB, round down complete files and minutes, and exclude overhead, retries and background traffic.
- 5 MB is Verizon’s high-resolution photo example. Your files can be smaller after compression or much larger as originals or RAW. Check the actual file size on your phone. Verizon ↗
- 63 MB models a 1-minute H.264 Full HD export at 24–30 fps using YouTube’s recommended video and stereo audio bitrates. It is not a universal camera-file size or the cost of watching a clip. YouTube ↗
- Viewing examples use Netflix’s published rates: up to 0.7 GB/hr at Medium and up to 3 GB/hr in HD. Other apps and quality settings can differ; these are not YouTube playback rates. Netflix ↗
- The call example uses Zoom’s 1:1 720p bandwidth: 1.2 Mbps up and 1.2 Mbps down, together about 1.08 GB/hr. Group calls and higher resolutions can use more. Zoom ↗

On iOS 26, a Turn On Travel eSIM notification may appear after arrival. Choose the travel line for data and check whether you also want to keep your home line active. If no notification appears, use the manual steps below.
Check when your package starts: at payment, installation or first connection. If it starts on installation, install nearer your trip. Installing later does not postpone a package that started at payment.
These screens show settings on the models named below. Your operator and eSIM labels will differ. Screens retain the source language; each caption translates and identifies the control to use. Tap any image for a closer look.

Give the new line a clear name
For example, “Letisim Cape Verde”, so you can distinguish it from your home SIM. This is a label on your phone; it does not change the number or plan.
iPhone: Settings → Cellular / Mobile Service → new eSIM → Cellular Plan Label → Custom
Google Pixel / Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → new eSIM → Edit name
Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → new eSIM → Name
Huawei: SIM management → SIM 2 → your eSIM → Card name. You can keep the existing label if no rename option is shown.
Honor: SIM management → SIM 2 → eSIM name. Rename it if your MagicOS version offers this option.
Xiaomi / Redmi: Manage eSIM → your plan → Change nickname, if available.
Motorola: Open the new eSIM in SIM settings and use the edit-name option if available.
OPPO: Open the installed profile in eSIM settings and change its label if your ColorOS version allows it.
OnePlus: Open the installed eSIM and edit its name if the option is available.
Line name: Letisim Cape Verde

Check roaming in your package guide
If your eSIM instructions require data roaming, enable it for the Letisim line. Keep data roaming off on your home SIM. If an APN is specified, use the exact value in your own package’s guide.
iPhone: Settings → Cellular / Mobile Service → Letisim → Data Roaming (sometimes under Cellular Data Options)
Google Pixel / Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Letisim → Roaming
Samsung: First select Letisim for mobile data, then Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Data roaming
Huawei: Open Mobile network → Mobile data and check data roaming for the travel SIM. Follow the settings in your package guide.
Honor: In the mobile-network settings, open the travel SIM’s data settings and enable roaming only if your package requires it.
Xiaomi / Redmi: In Mobile networks, open the travel SIM’s data-roaming settings. Use the roaming and APN values from your package guide.
Motorola: Open the travel eSIM’s network settings and check Roaming against your package instructions.
OPPO: Open the travel SIM’s mobile-network settings and enable data roaming if required by your package.
OnePlus: Open the travel SIM’s settings and check Data roaming against the instructions for your own package.

Check your connection
Turn off Wi-Fi and open a map or website. If it loads, mobile data is working. If it does not, turn airplane mode on for about 30 seconds, turn it off and wait for a connection. Recheck the selected line and package settings.
Wi-Fi off → website loads → you are connected

No second screen for your QR code?
If the scanner has a gallery button, save the QR from your order and choose that image. If your order includes manual installation details, choose Enter details manually and copy the fields exactly. The available methods depend on your phone and eSIM. If neither is available, contact support; do not scan a sample code from this guide or delete an installed eSIM.
Menu names can differ by phone model and system version.
04 / Operators
Mobile operators in Cape Verde
Compare network coverage separately from speed. A national result does not predict reception inside your hotel or along a mountain road.
ARME’s current mobile-market reporting and coverage study identify CV Telecom and Unitel T+ as the mobile operators assessed for national mobile service and coverage, so this page uses a researched operator list rather than claiming a separate exhaustive regulator directory beyond those active mobile networks.
CV Telecom
Ask CV Telecom about mobile coverage at your accommodation and along your route. Check the network listed in the eSIM package before purchase. [1] [2]
Official website ↗Unitel T+
Unitel T+ provides a public coverage-check page on its website. It is useful for checking a specific area, but it is still a service checker rather than a guarantee for every street, room or beach. [3] [4] [5] [1] [2]
Check coverage ↗The network in your chosen package is what matters. This country comparison does not mean every plan includes every operator. 5G depends on the package, phone and local coverage.
05 / Coverage
Coverage across Cape Verde
Check the addresses and roads you will actually use. Save maps and booking details before leaving Wi-Fi.
- Praia and Cidade Velha, Santiago
- Mindelo and São Vicente
- Santa Maria and Sal
- Fogo and Pico do Fogo
Praia and Cidade Velha, Santiago
This is the most practical place to set up your eSIM on arrival, check maps and order transport before moving on. City conditions can vary by hotel, port and hillside street, so test data where you will actually stay rather than relying on the island or city name alone. [6] [8] [9]
Mindelo and São Vicente
Use this as a base for city stays and ferry connections. Keep booking details, maps and messaging apps ready before transfer days, because the useful moment for mobile data is often the route between hotel, port and next island. [6] [8] [9]
Santa Maria and Sal
This resort area is where many visitors rely on data for airport transfers, beach logistics and last-minute plans. Check the exact accommodation zone and the road or taxi route you will use, since a single island-wide assumption is not enough for a trip that moves between airport, town and coast. [6] [8] [9]
Fogo and Pico do Fogo
For mountain and volcano trips, save offline maps and key contacts before you go. Tourism information highlights Fogo as a major natural draw, but route conditions and actual signal use depend on the specific trail, road and stop points you choose. [6] [7] [8]
Cape Verde · eSIM
What to know before you choose
Cape Verde is an island country, so the right eSIM is less about one city result and more about how you move between airports, ports, hotels and day-trip areas. The most practical setup is one that keeps data ready for arrival, then continues to support navigation, ride booking and messaging when you change island or spend time away from the busiest visitor zones.
ARME’s current reporting identifies CV Telecom and Unitel T+ as the mobile operators assessed for service quality and coverage, and Unitel T+ also offers a public coverage-check page. Those tools are useful for narrowing down a specific stay or transfer route, but they still describe operator service views rather than guaranteeing the same result in every room, street or beach area.
Useful apps and travel tools
Visit Cabo Verde ↗

Taxi Seguro - Cabo Verde ↗

Before you buy
Island-hopping changes how you should plan data
Cape Verde is an archipelago with tourist places spread across different islands, so the best eSIM is usually the one that keeps navigation, messaging and transport tools simple during flights, ferry days and same-day changes. Offline maps remain useful whenever you are in transit or away from fixed accommodation. [6] [11]
Coverage checks help narrow the choice, not guarantee the result
Unitel T+ publishes a public coverage-check page, and ARME publishes national quality-and-coverage reporting for the mobile market. Both are helpful for shortlisting a stay or route, but they do not replace a real test at your hotel, apartment, road segment or terminal. [1] [4] [10]
06 / FAQ
Questions about eSIM in Cape Verde
Which mobile networks should I expect in Cape Verde?
The current mobile-market sources point to CV Telecom and Unitel T+ as the national mobile operators. That matters when you compare packages, because coverage and performance can differ by island, town and transfer route. If you want to check a specific place before you travel, Unitel T+ provides a public coverage page, while ARME publishes national service-quality and coverage reporting. [1] [4] [2]
Is one eSIM enough for Praia, Sal, Mindelo and Fogo?
For most visitors, one data eSIM is enough if your trip is mainly about maps, transport apps and messaging. The bigger question is how much data you need for island-hopping, because airport days, ferry days and day trips can use more than a simple city stay. If your route includes Fogo or other mountain areas, keep offline maps ready as well. [6] [7] [8]
Should I install the eSIM before I leave home?
Yes, that is usually the easiest approach. Install it while you still have a stable connection, then follow the product’s activation rule when you arrive or when you first connect, depending on the plan you bought. Keep your home SIM separate so you can still receive ordinary calls or texts on your usual number if you need them. [3] [11] [12]
Can I rely on a coverage checker before booking a hotel?
A coverage checker is useful, but it should be treated as a pre-trip filter rather than a promise. A location can look good on a provider’s service page and still behave differently inside a room, on a lower floor or along a transfer road. For that reason, check the exact accommodation area and the route you will actually use, not just the island name. [4] [10]
Do I need special apps for getting around?
The official Visit Cabo Verde app is a good starting point because it includes tourist places, routes, transport and useful contacts. For taxis, Taxi Seguro is a local ride-hailing option that can help in busy visitor areas such as Praia, Mindelo and Sal. Offline maps are still a smart backup, especially on island transfers. [11] [9]
What should I do if I will travel between islands?
Download maps, booking details and important contact information before you move between islands. Inter-island travel is where people most often need quick access to directions, port or airport information, hotel details and ride booking. Data is most useful when it is already set up before the transfer starts. [6] [8] [9]
