How far will your data go?
Choose an allowance to see what it could cover. Quality, compression and background activity change actual usage.
With 3 GB, approximately…
Send photos
≈ 600 photosExample: 5 MB per photo
Upload your own videos
≈ 47 clipsExample: a 1-minute Full HD clip ≈ 63 MB
Watch video
≈ 1 hrHD example: 3 GB per hour
At standard quality: ≈ 4 hr 17 min
Make video calls
≈ 2 hr 46 min1:1 at 720p: ≈ 1.08 GB per hour
Each result uses the whole allowance for that one activity. The results do not add up: maps, messages and other apps share the same data.
Taking photos or recording video on your phone does not itself use mobile data. Sending, watching or backing them up over the mobile network does.

Where these estimates come from
Planning examples, not guaranteed totals. We use 1 GB = 1,000 MB, round down complete files and minutes, and exclude overhead, retries and background traffic.
- 5 MB is Verizon’s high-resolution photo example. Your files can be smaller after compression or much larger as originals or RAW. Check the actual file size on your phone. Verizon ↗
- 63 MB models a 1-minute H.264 Full HD export at 24–30 fps using YouTube’s recommended video and stereo audio bitrates. It is not a universal camera-file size or the cost of watching a clip. YouTube ↗
- Viewing examples use Netflix’s published rates: up to 0.7 GB/hr at Medium and up to 3 GB/hr in HD. Other apps and quality settings can differ; these are not YouTube playback rates. Netflix ↗
- The call example uses Zoom’s 1:1 720p bandwidth: 1.2 Mbps up and 1.2 Mbps down, together about 1.08 GB/hr. Group calls and higher resolutions can use more. Zoom ↗

On iOS 26, a Turn On Travel eSIM notification may appear after arrival. Choose the travel line for data and check whether you also want to keep your home line active. If no notification appears, use the manual steps below.
Check when your package starts: at payment, installation or first connection. If it starts on installation, install nearer your trip. Installing later does not postpone a package that started at payment.
These screens show settings on the models named below. Your operator and eSIM labels will differ. Screens retain the source language; each caption translates and identifies the control to use. Tap any image for a closer look.

Google Pixel / Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → new eSIM → Edit name
Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → new eSIM → Name
Huawei: SIM management → SIM 2 → your eSIM → Card name. You can keep the existing label if no rename option is shown.
Honor: SIM management → SIM 2 → eSIM name. Rename it if your MagicOS version offers this option.
Xiaomi / Redmi: Manage eSIM → your plan → Change nickname, if available.
Motorola: Open the new eSIM in SIM settings and use the edit-name option if available.
OPPO: Open the installed profile in eSIM settings and change its label if your ColorOS version allows it.
OnePlus: Open the installed eSIM and edit its name if the option is available.

04 / Operators
Mobile operators in Israel
Compare network coverage separately from speed. A national result does not predict reception inside your hotel or along a mountain road.
The current national mobile networks listed here follow the Ministry of Communications PLMN registry and the operator set used in the latest Opensignal Israel report. This is a country-level comparison for travel planning and does not mean every eSIM package includes every network.

05 / Coverage
Coverage across Israel
Check the addresses and roads you will actually use. Save maps and booking details before leaving Wi-Fi.
- Jerusalem
- Tel Aviv
- Dead Sea
- Galilee and Sea of Galilee
Jerusalem
Before leaving Wi‑Fi, save maps and taxi options for the Old City, museums and viewpoints. In a city with dense streets and open edges, offline maps are a useful backup when you move between walking areas and busier roads. [7] [8]
Tel Aviv
For city stays, mobile data is useful for rides, maps, messaging and train or bus planning. Keep a backup route in your navigation app because congestion can change the quickest path quickly, especially around airport transfers and central streets. [5] [7] [8]
Dead Sea
This is a practical day-trip area where live navigation, pickup coordination and hotel contact details matter. Save the address and pickup instructions offline before you leave Jerusalem or the coast, so you are not depending on live search at the last minute. [8] [7]
Galilee and Sea of Galilee
If your route includes Tiberias, lakefront stops or hillside viewpoints, offline maps are helpful because you may move between towns, roads and shore access points in one day. Check your eSIM before driving if you want live navigation throughout the trip. [7] [8]

Overview
Israel’s mobile market is built around a small set of national networks, which makes it practical to compare coverage tools and recent measurement results before you buy. The Ministry of Communications publishes registry and coverage-related information, and the latest Opensignal Israel report shows how the main operators compare on coverage and download experience. That context is useful, but it does not replace checking the specific places you plan to visit.
For travelers, the best choice depends on where you will spend time: city streets in Tel Aviv, old-city walking routes in Jerusalem, transfers to the Dead Sea, or lake-and-road travel around Galilee. A strong plan is one that keeps maps, ride-hailing, hotel messaging and rail or bus updates working smoothly without forcing you to rely on hotel Wi‑Fi or roaming surprises. If a public coverage tool is available for your preferred network, use it; if not, compare the operator’s plan details with recent measurement data and choose the network that matches your route.
Useful apps and travel tools

Before you buy
What to verify before buying
Start with the operator’s own plan page or coverage tool when it exists, then compare that with the Ministry of Communications information and a recent measurement report. For Israel, the useful question is usually which network and route combination fits your trip, not whether there is signal somewhere in the country. [1] [2] [3]
Transport apps are useful in the main cities
Israel Railways and Egged both publish official apps, and Tel Aviv tourism guidance points travelers toward trains, buses, taxis and route-planning tools. That makes mobile data especially useful for checking departures, platform changes and last-mile rides while you move. [5] [6] [7]
06 / FAQ
Questions about eSIM in Israel
Which mobile networks should I compare for Israel?
The current national networks to compare are Cellcom, Partner, Pelephone and HOT mobile. That is the practical comparison set for most travelers, because these are the major infrastructure operators listed in the Ministry registry and reflected in the latest Opensignal market report. Compare coverage tools, recent measurement results and your own route before deciding which plan suits you best. [1] [3]
Can I rely on one network for the whole trip?
Often yes for normal city travel, but it is smarter to think in terms of your route rather than a single “best” network. Dense city center use, airport transfers, Dead Sea day trips and northern road travel all create slightly different needs. If an operator gives you a public coverage checker, use it for the exact places you will stay and visit. [2] [4] [7] [8]
What should I do if I’m staying in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv only?
For a mainly urban trip, any good data plan should be enough for maps, taxis, messaging and rail or bus planning. In practice, the value of the plan is less about maximum speed and more about staying connected when you move between hotels, stations and neighborhoods. Keep offline maps as a backup and save your accommodation details before you leave Wi‑Fi. [5] [6] [7]
Do I need a different plan for the Dead Sea or Galilee day trips?
Day trips outside the largest cities are the point where route planning matters more. You may be navigating pickups, changing roads or checking return times, so a plan with reliable live data and a sensible allowance is more comfortable than depending on free hotel Wi‑Fi. Download maps in advance and keep key addresses saved offline. [8] [7]
When should I install the eSIM?
Install it when you have a stable connection, ideally before departure or soon after purchase, then follow the activation steps from the product page. In Israel, some plans are intended to begin on first connection, while others may start at purchase or installation depending on the package rules, so the package screen remains the final authority. [10]
Will my home SIM charges stop automatically?
No. Keep home SIM and travel eSIM separate in your phone settings so you do not use the wrong line for data. The travel eSIM is for mobile data, while your home SIM may still incur voice or SMS charges if you leave it active for those services. Check your device settings before you start using data abroad.
