How far will your data go?
Choose an allowance to see what it could cover. Quality, compression and background activity change actual usage.
With 3 GB, approximately…
Send photos
≈ 600 photosExample: 5 MB per photo
Upload your own videos
≈ 47 clipsExample: a 1-minute Full HD clip ≈ 63 MB
Watch video
≈ 1 hrHD example: 3 GB per hour
At standard quality: ≈ 4 hr 17 min
Make video calls
≈ 2 hr 46 min1:1 at 720p: ≈ 1.08 GB per hour
Each result uses the whole allowance for that one activity. The results do not add up: maps, messages and other apps share the same data.
Taking photos or recording video on your phone does not itself use mobile data. Sending, watching or backing them up over the mobile network does.

Where these estimates come from
Planning examples, not guaranteed totals. We use 1 GB = 1,000 MB, round down complete files and minutes, and exclude overhead, retries and background traffic.
- 5 MB is Verizon’s high-resolution photo example. Your files can be smaller after compression or much larger as originals or RAW. Check the actual file size on your phone. Verizon ↗
- 63 MB models a 1-minute H.264 Full HD export at 24–30 fps using YouTube’s recommended video and stereo audio bitrates. It is not a universal camera-file size or the cost of watching a clip. YouTube ↗
- Viewing examples use Netflix’s published rates: up to 0.7 GB/hr at Medium and up to 3 GB/hr in HD. Other apps and quality settings can differ; these are not YouTube playback rates. Netflix ↗
- The call example uses Zoom’s 1:1 720p bandwidth: 1.2 Mbps up and 1.2 Mbps down, together about 1.08 GB/hr. Group calls and higher resolutions can use more. Zoom ↗

On iOS 26, a Turn On Travel eSIM notification may appear after arrival. Choose the travel line for data and check whether you also want to keep your home line active. If no notification appears, use the manual steps below.
Check when your package starts: at payment, installation or first connection. If it starts on installation, install nearer your trip. Installing later does not postpone a package that started at payment.
These screens show settings on the models named below. Your operator and eSIM labels will differ. Screens retain the source language; each caption translates and identifies the control to use. Tap any image for a closer look.

Give the new line a clear name
For example, “Letisim Latvia”, so you can distinguish it from your home SIM. This is a label on your phone; it does not change the number or plan.
iPhone: Settings → Cellular / Mobile Service → new eSIM → Cellular Plan Label → Custom
Google Pixel / Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → new eSIM → Edit name
Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → new eSIM → Name
Huawei: SIM management → SIM 2 → your eSIM → Card name. You can keep the existing label if no rename option is shown.
Honor: SIM management → SIM 2 → eSIM name. Rename it if your MagicOS version offers this option.
Xiaomi / Redmi: Manage eSIM → your plan → Change nickname, if available.
Motorola: Open the new eSIM in SIM settings and use the edit-name option if available.
OPPO: Open the installed profile in eSIM settings and change its label if your ColorOS version allows it.
OnePlus: Open the installed eSIM and edit its name if the option is available.
Line name: Letisim Latvia

Check roaming in your package guide
If your eSIM instructions require data roaming, enable it for the Letisim line. Keep data roaming off on your home SIM. If an APN is specified, use the exact value in your own package’s guide.
iPhone: Settings → Cellular / Mobile Service → Letisim → Data Roaming (sometimes under Cellular Data Options)
Google Pixel / Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Letisim → Roaming
Samsung: First select Letisim for mobile data, then Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Data roaming
Huawei: Open Mobile network → Mobile data and check data roaming for the travel SIM. Follow the settings in your package guide.
Honor: In the mobile-network settings, open the travel SIM’s data settings and enable roaming only if your package requires it.
Xiaomi / Redmi: In Mobile networks, open the travel SIM’s data-roaming settings. Use the roaming and APN values from your package guide.
Motorola: Open the travel eSIM’s network settings and check Roaming against your package instructions.
OPPO: Open the travel SIM’s mobile-network settings and enable data roaming if required by your package.
OnePlus: Open the travel SIM’s settings and check Data roaming against the instructions for your own package.

Check your connection
Turn off Wi-Fi and open a map or website. If it loads, mobile data is working. If it does not, turn airplane mode on for about 30 seconds, turn it off and wait for a connection. Recheck the selected line and package settings.

No second screen for your QR code?
If the scanner has a gallery button, save the QR from your order and choose that image. If your order includes manual installation details, choose Enter details manually and copy the fields exactly. The available methods depend on your phone and eSIM. If neither is available, contact support; do not scan a sample code from this guide or delete an installed eSIM.

04 / Operators
Mobile operators in Latvia
Compare network coverage separately from speed. A national result does not predict reception inside your hotel or along a mountain road.
Latvia has three national mobile network operators identified by the regulator and operator sources used here: LMT, Tele2 and Bite Latvija. Each operator publishes its own coverage checker, and real-world service can differ by street, building and route.
LMT
Check outdoor theoretical coverage by address or place name on the public coverage map. LMT notes that real coverage can differ at each point. [1] [3]
Check coverage ↗Tele2
The public map shows 2G, 4G and 5G availability by address, including a separate note for the strongest 5G areas. [1] [4]
Check coverage ↗Bite Latvija
Bite’s public network map shows theoretical outdoor coverage and service availability, with a separate view for 5G areas. [1] [5]
Check coverage ↗The network in your chosen package is what matters. This country comparison does not mean every plan includes every operator. 5G depends on the package, phone and local coverage.
05 / Coverage
Coverage across Latvia
Check the addresses and roads you will actually use. Save maps and booking details before leaving Wi-Fi.
- Riga
- Jūrmala and Ķemeri
- Kurzeme coast and Slītere National Park
- Daugavpils and Latgale trips
Riga
Use the city for airport arrival, hotel check-in and transit-heavy days. In the centre, underground spaces, old buildings and crowded streets can change signal quality quickly, so install the eSIM before arrival and keep the operator map handy for indoor planning. [1] [3] [4] [6]
Jūrmala and Ķemeri
For beach, spa and park visits, expect a mix of urban and more open stretches. Check coverage before moving between central Jūrmala, Ķemeri Resort Park and coastal paths, especially if you rely on navigation or ride-hailing after dark. [6] [7]
Kurzeme coast and Slītere National Park
This is a good place to plan around roads, viewpoints and visitor stops rather than assuming one continuous signal everywhere. Download offline maps before leaving the main towns, and use the operator checker for the exact road, village or trailhead you will visit. [7] [8] [3] [4] [5]
Daugavpils and Latgale trips
Use the city as a practical base for eastbound train, bus and museum days. Before leaving for smaller settlements or lake areas, confirm coverage on the operator map rather than assuming the same service extends along the whole route. [9] [3] [4] [5]

What to know before you buy
Latvia’s three national mobile operators are LMT, Tele2 and Bite Latvija. Each publishes a public coverage checker, so the most useful way to compare service is by the exact address, street or place you expect to use most.
For travellers, the difference is often practical rather than theoretical: city centres, coastlines, parks and smaller roads can feel very different even inside the same town. A good setup is to install the eSIM before arrival, keep your home SIM separate for calls and SMS, and use offline maps when you move beyond the main urban areas.
Useful apps and travel tools
Rīgas satiksme ↗
Official app for Riga public transport tickets, route times, real-time vehicle tracking and parking payments. [10]
Latvia Offline Map and Travel Trip Guide App ↗
Offline map app that is useful when you want downloaded streets and places without depending on a live connection. [11]
Before you buy
Check coverage before resort passes and park days
For Jūrmala entry, local transport and parking payments, a working data connection is useful. Keep the eSIM active before you need maps, tickets or a ride to the beach, and remember that home-SIM roaming costs stay separate from your data eSIM. [6] [10]
Use operator maps for the exact address, not just the city
LMT, Tele2 and Bite all publish public coverage tools that let you check by address or place name. That is more useful than guessing from a city label, especially when you move between the centre, the coast and countryside routes. [3] [4] [5]
06 / FAQ
Questions about eSIM in Latvia
Which network should I choose for a trip to Latvia?
Start by checking the address or area where you will actually use the phone most. LMT, Tele2 and Bite all publish public coverage maps, and the best fit can vary between a Riga hotel, a Jūrmala beach day and a longer drive in Kurzeme. If you want the simplest comparison, use the operator checker for your hotel, station or road stop before buying. [3] [4] [5]
Do I need a special setup for Riga, Jūrmala or the coast?
No special installation rules are needed, but the route matters. Riga is useful for arrival and city errands, Jūrmala and Ķemeri involve more resort and park movement, and the Kurzeme coast can mean more open stretches and fewer places to stop. Install the eSIM first, then confirm the route on the operator map and keep offline maps ready. [6] [7] [8]
Can I rely on one operator map for the whole country?
It is better to compare maps, not assume one city result covers the rest of the country. The public coverage tools from LMT, Tele2 and Bite are designed for address-level checks, which is more useful when you move from the capital to beaches, parks or inland towns. [3] [4] [5]
Should I use my home SIM or the travel eSIM for calls and SMS?
Keep them separate. The travel eSIM is mainly for data, while your home SIM may still handle voice or SMS depending on your phone settings and roaming terms. That separation helps avoid confusion about costs and makes it easier to keep navigation and messaging online at the same time. [1]
