How far will your data go?
Choose an allowance to see what it could cover. Quality, compression and background activity change actual usage.
With 3 GB, approximately…
Send photos
≈ 600 photosExample: 5 MB per photo
Upload your own videos
≈ 47 clipsExample: a 1-minute Full HD clip ≈ 63 MB
Watch video
≈ 1 hrHD example: 3 GB per hour
At standard quality: ≈ 4 hr 17 min
Make video calls
≈ 2 hr 46 min1:1 at 720p: ≈ 1.08 GB per hour
Each result uses the whole allowance for that one activity. The results do not add up: maps, messages and other apps share the same data.
Taking photos or recording video on your phone does not itself use mobile data. Sending, watching or backing them up over the mobile network does.

Where these estimates come from
Planning examples, not guaranteed totals. We use 1 GB = 1,000 MB, round down complete files and minutes, and exclude overhead, retries and background traffic.
- 5 MB is Verizon’s high-resolution photo example. Your files can be smaller after compression or much larger as originals or RAW. Check the actual file size on your phone. Verizon ↗
- 63 MB models a 1-minute H.264 Full HD export at 24–30 fps using YouTube’s recommended video and stereo audio bitrates. It is not a universal camera-file size or the cost of watching a clip. YouTube ↗
- Viewing examples use Netflix’s published rates: up to 0.7 GB/hr at Medium and up to 3 GB/hr in HD. Other apps and quality settings can differ; these are not YouTube playback rates. Netflix ↗
- The call example uses Zoom’s 1:1 720p bandwidth: 1.2 Mbps up and 1.2 Mbps down, together about 1.08 GB/hr. Group calls and higher resolutions can use more. Zoom ↗

On iOS 26, a Turn On Travel eSIM notification may appear after arrival. Choose the travel line for data and check whether you also want to keep your home line active. If no notification appears, use the manual steps below.
Check when your package starts: at payment, installation or first connection. If it starts on installation, install nearer your trip. Installing later does not postpone a package that started at payment.
These screens show settings on the models named below. Your operator and eSIM labels will differ. Screens retain the source language; each caption translates and identifies the control to use. Tap any image for a closer look.

Give the new line a clear name
For example, “Letisim Tunisia”, so you can distinguish it from your home SIM. This is a label on your phone; it does not change the number or plan.
iPhone: Settings → Cellular / Mobile Service → new eSIM → Cellular Plan Label → Custom
Google Pixel / Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → new eSIM → Edit name
Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → new eSIM → Name
Huawei: SIM management → SIM 2 → your eSIM → Card name. You can keep the existing label if no rename option is shown.
Honor: SIM management → SIM 2 → eSIM name. Rename it if your MagicOS version offers this option.
Xiaomi / Redmi: Manage eSIM → your plan → Change nickname, if available.
Motorola: Open the new eSIM in SIM settings and use the edit-name option if available.
OPPO: Open the installed profile in eSIM settings and change its label if your ColorOS version allows it.
OnePlus: Open the installed eSIM and edit its name if the option is available.
Line name: Letisim Tunisia

Check your connection
Turn off Wi-Fi and open a map or website. If it loads, mobile data is working. If it does not, turn airplane mode on for about 30 seconds, turn it off and wait for a connection. Recheck the selected line and package settings.

No second screen for your QR code?
If the scanner has a gallery button, save the QR from your order and choose that image. If your order includes manual installation details, choose Enter details manually and copy the fields exactly. The available methods depend on your phone and eSIM. If neither is available, contact support; do not scan a sample code from this guide or delete an installed eSIM.
Menu names can differ by phone model and system version.
04 / Operators
Mobile operators in Tunisia
Compare network coverage separately from speed. A national result does not predict reception inside your hotel or along a mountain road.
Compare Ooredoo Tunisie, Orange Tunisie, Tunisie Telecom for your route. Check which network is included in the selected eSIM, then confirm coverage for your accommodation and trip stops.
Ooredoo Tunisie
Operator coverage checker lets travellers test a location and device compatibility. Use it to verify a specific address rather than assuming every tourist area behaves the same. [1] [2] [4] [5]
Check coverage ↗Orange Tunisie
Orange provides an address-based network map for 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G. For travellers, that is useful for checking hotels, apartments and exact streets before arrival. [1] [2] [3] [5] [7]
Check coverage ↗Tunisie Telecom
Tunisie Telecom offers a mobile coverage page through its assistance area. It is practical for checking service in cities and along planned routes, but not a substitute for on-the-ground conditions. [1] [2] [5] [6]
Check coverage ↗| Operator | Coverage Experience / 10 | Download · Mbps | Study date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ooredoo Tunisie | 7.8 | 28.8 | 2025-09[5] |
| Orange Tunisie | 6.6 | 20.5 | 2025-09[5] |
| Tunisie Telecom | 7.3 | 23.9 | 2025-09[5] |
Coverage Experience is a score, not a percentage of territory. These dated averages are not promised speeds for your connection.
The network in your chosen package is what matters. This country comparison does not mean every plan includes every operator. 5G depends on the package, phone and local coverage.
05 / Coverage
Coverage across Tunisia
Check the addresses and roads you will actually use. Save maps and booking details before leaving Wi-Fi.
- Tunis
- Djerba
- Sfax
- Dougga and El Djem
Tunis
For the capital, check coverage at your hotel, airport transfer address and old-town base separately. Dense urban streets, business districts and airport routes can feel different, so a single citywide impression is not enough. [3] [6] [10] [11]
Djerba
Djerba works best as a place to pre-check your resort, ferry or flight arrival point and any planned day trips inland. If you expect to move between beach areas and smaller villages, keep offline maps ready as a backup. [10] [11] [12]
Sfax
Sfax is useful for business stops and as a launch point toward the southeast. Check coverage where you actually stay, because urban addresses, port areas and roads out of town can have different conditions. [6] [10] [11]
Dougga and El Djem
For heritage visits, mobile use is mostly about navigation, tickets, rides and messages rather than streaming. Download directions before you leave the city, since site access and surrounding roads are easier to manage with offline maps. [10] [11] [12]

What to know before you buy
Tunisia’s mobile market is served by three national operators: Ooredoo Tunisie, Orange Tunisie and Tunisie Telecom. For a traveller, the most useful decision is usually not a brand name alone, but whether the operator’s address checker shows good service at your hotel, apartment or planned stop.
Opensignal’s September 2025 report shows a useful snapshot for comparison, with Ooredoo at 7.8 for Coverage Experience and 28.8 Mbps for Download Speed Experience, Tunisie Telecom at 7.3 and 23.9 Mbps, and Orange at 6.6 and 20.5 Mbps. That is a market-level comparison, not a promise for every street or resort area, so it should be paired with the operator’s own coverage tool for the exact place you will use.
Useful apps and travel tools
Wassalni ↗
Official Transtu app for tracking bus, metro and light-rail lines in Tunis. Useful for getting around the capital without constantly checking paper timetables. [8]
My TT ↗
Tunisie Telecom’s mobile app for managing lines and services. It is most relevant if you use TT as your local line or want account control during the stay. [9]
MAPS.ME ↗
Offline maps app from the publisher, useful for downloaded navigation, saved places and backup directions when data is limited or you do not want to burn eSIM traffic. [12]
Before you buy
Airport and arrival planning
Tourist eSIM users usually benefit most from having data ready for airport transport, hotel check-in and messaging as soon as they land. Keep your home SIM separate if you need calls, banking texts or verification codes on your number from home. [7] [8] [9]
Southern and desert-side routes
Trips toward the south are best handled with a backup plan: offline maps, saved hotel addresses and a clear understanding of where you want to use mobile data. Connectivity can matter most at the start and end of a drive, not evenly everywhere along the route. [10] [12]
Coverage checks are address-based, not abstract
Operator maps in Tunisia are most useful when you enter a street, hotel or area you actually plan to use. That is more relevant for a traveller than relying on broad city names alone. [3] [4] [6]
06 / FAQ
Questions about eSIM in Tunisia
Which network should I choose for a trip to Tunisia?
Start with the operator that shows the best result for your exact address, not just the widest reputation. Ooredoo, Orange and Tunisie Telecom all operate nationally, but each one can look different once you check a hotel, apartment or route on its own coverage page. If you are splitting time between Tunis, a seaside stay and inland sightseeing, compare the address results for each base before you buy. [1] [3] [4] [5] [6]
Can I rely on one citywide coverage result for Tunis or Djerba?
It is better to avoid that assumption. A capital, a resort island and a heritage area can each contain streets or facilities that behave differently from the general area name. For Tunis, Djerba and other popular stops, the practical approach is to check the exact hotel, transfer point or base address and then keep offline maps ready as a backup. [3] [6] [10] [12]
Is 5G available in Tunisia?
Yes, 5G licensing has been signed and operators have published 5G-related pages, but availability still depends on the operator, the device and the address you are checking. For a traveller, the useful question is not whether the country has 5G in theory, but whether your specific stay or route shows service on the operator map. [2] [3] [4] [6]
Should I keep my home SIM active too?
Usually yes, if you need banking texts, two-factor codes or calls to your home number. A data eSIM handles internet for maps, rides and messaging, while your home SIM can stay available for number-based services. That separation helps avoid surprise roaming charges while keeping your original number reachable. [7] [9]
What should I do for longer drives or inland sightseeing?
Save the route before you leave, download offline maps and keep your hotel address in your phone. That matters especially if you are combining city time with heritage sites or southbound drives, because data is most valuable when you are starting, stopping or re-routing rather than constantly streaming. [10] [11] [12]
Do the operator coverage pages replace real-world testing?
No. They are the best public check before purchase, but they remain planning tools rather than a live guarantee. The smartest use is to compare the exact address, then treat the result as a buying signal and not as a promise for every moment of the trip. [3] [4] [6] [5]
