How far will your data go?
Choose an allowance to see what it could cover. Quality, compression and background activity change actual usage.
With 3 GB, approximately…
Send photos
≈ 600 photosExample: 5 MB per photo
Upload your own videos
≈ 47 clipsExample: a 1-minute Full HD clip ≈ 63 MB
Watch video
≈ 1 hrHD example: 3 GB per hour
At standard quality: ≈ 4 hr 17 min
Make video calls
≈ 2 hr 46 min1:1 at 720p: ≈ 1.08 GB per hour
Each result uses the whole allowance for that one activity. The results do not add up: maps, messages and other apps share the same data.
Taking photos or recording video on your phone does not itself use mobile data. Sending, watching or backing them up over the mobile network does.

Where these estimates come from
Planning examples, not guaranteed totals. We use 1 GB = 1,000 MB, round down complete files and minutes, and exclude overhead, retries and background traffic.
- 5 MB is Verizon’s high-resolution photo example. Your files can be smaller after compression or much larger as originals or RAW. Check the actual file size on your phone. Verizon ↗
- 63 MB models a 1-minute H.264 Full HD export at 24–30 fps using YouTube’s recommended video and stereo audio bitrates. It is not a universal camera-file size or the cost of watching a clip. YouTube ↗
- Viewing examples use Netflix’s published rates: up to 0.7 GB/hr at Medium and up to 3 GB/hr in HD. Other apps and quality settings can differ; these are not YouTube playback rates. Netflix ↗
- The call example uses Zoom’s 1:1 720p bandwidth: 1.2 Mbps up and 1.2 Mbps down, together about 1.08 GB/hr. Group calls and higher resolutions can use more. Zoom ↗

04 / Operators
Mobile operators in Poland
Compare network coverage separately from speed. A national result does not predict reception inside your hotel or along a mountain road.
Official regulator and market sources identify four nationwide mobile networks in Poland: Orange, Play, Plus and T-Mobile. This is the reference set for checking coverage, but an individual eSIM plan may still use only one network or a limited subset.
Orange
Orange provides an official mobile coverage map. It is approximate, so real service can differ by street, building and terrain. [1] [5]
Check coverage ↗Play
Play’s map shows service for calls, SMS, MMS and mobile internet, plus 4G LTE and 5G layers. The map is indicative, not contractual. [1] [2]
Check coverage ↗Plus
Plus offers an official coverage map for mobile service, including LTE and 5G views. Results can vary indoors and outdoors. [1] [4]
Check coverage ↗T-Mobile
T-Mobile’s checker shows approximate reach by location and technology. Like all coverage maps, it can vary by buildings, transport routes and local conditions. [1] [3] [10]
Check coverage ↗| Operator | Coverage Experience / 10 | Download · Mbps | Study date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Orange | 7.2 | — | 2024-06[5] |

| Plus | — | — | — |
| T-Mobile | — | 48.3 | 2024-06[5] |
Coverage Experience is a score, not a percentage of territory. These dated averages are not promised speeds for your connection.
The network in your chosen package is what matters. This country comparison does not mean every plan includes every operator. 5G depends on the package, phone and local coverage.
05 / Coverage
Coverage across Poland
Check the addresses and roads you will actually use. Save maps and booking details before leaving Wi-Fi.
- Warsaw
- Kraków
- Białowieża area
- Southern mountain routes around Zakopane
Warsaw
For Warsaw, mobile data is most useful for live navigation, ride-hailing, station changes and checking tram, metro and rail connections. Keep a transit app ready if you plan to move between the airport, the center and railway hubs. [6] [7] [8]
Kraków
Kraków is easy to explore on foot, but stable data still helps with meeting points, tram changes and day trips beyond the Old Town. A route app is especially handy if you mix sightseeing with rail travel. [6] [7] [8]
Białowieża area
For the Białowieża area, save maps before leaving main roads or accommodation. That makes parking, trail access and the way back easier if you drive through forest roads or smaller settlements. [9]
Southern mountain routes around Zakopane
If your trip includes mountain walks or park access in the south, plan routes, parking and return transport before you start moving between valleys and trailheads. Offline maps are a practical backup when you want to reduce data use. [9]

What to expect from mobile data in Poland
Poland has four nationwide mobile networks that travellers can compare through official coverage pages: Orange, Play, Plus and T-Mobile. Those maps are useful for checking an address or route, but they remain approximate, so the result can differ in a hotel, station, vehicle or outdoors depending on local conditions.
For most trips, the best approach is to choose a plan for everyday navigation rather than assuming one network will behave identically everywhere. City sightseeing in Warsaw and Kraków, rail hops and quieter areas such as Białowieża all benefit from having maps ready, enough data for ride-hailing and messaging, and a clear view of which operator coverage you want to check before you go.
Useful apps and travel tools
Jakdojade ↗
A local trip planner for buses, trams and trains, with tickets in one place. It is especially useful for city travel in major Polish cities such as Warsaw and Kraków. [6]
PKP Intercity ↗
PKP Intercity’s rail app is useful for long-distance train trips, ticket handling and checking travel details when you move beyond city transport. [7]
Before you buy
Choose a plan around the route you will actually use
Most travellers use mobile data first for maps, taxi apps, translation and ticket checks. In Poland that is especially true when your trip mixes city time, rail transfers and quieter nature areas. A plan sized for navigation and messaging is usually more practical than one built only for short hotel-to-restaurant use. [6] [7] [8] [9]
Check coverage by address, not just by city name
Orange, Play, Plus and T-Mobile all provide their own coverage pages. They are useful for checking approximate reach at a specific address, but the result can differ between a street, a station, a hotel room or an outdoor trail. [2] [3] [4]
06 / FAQ
Questions about eSIM in Poland
Which network should I check before buying a Poland eSIM?
The practical shortlist is Orange, Play, Plus and T-Mobile, because official regulator and market sources identify these as the nationwide mobile networks. Before buying, compare the operator map for the places you will actually visit: city center, station area, hotel, day-trip road or park access. A package can still use only one or a limited set of networks, so the package screen matters as much as the country map. [1] [2] [3] [4] [10]
Is one operator always best for the whole country?
No. Official coverage maps are location-based, and a strong result in one district does not guarantee the same result across every street, building or train line. A measurement report can help you compare broad network experience, but it is still a snapshot from a specific period, not a promise for every block or future trip. For that reason, it is better to match the plan to your route than to rely on a single blanket winner. [2] [3] [4] [5]
Do I need mobile data for city travel in Warsaw and Kraków?
It is very helpful. In both cities, travellers often use data for route planning, ride-hailing, tram and rail checks, ticket confirmation and quick changes when walking between districts. Jakdojade is useful for city transport, and PKP Intercity helps when your trip extends onto intercity rail. Even if you know the city, live access saves time when platforms, schedules or meeting points change. [6] [7] [8]
Should I download offline maps before going to Białowieża or the mountains?
Yes, that is a sensible backup. Nature areas can involve smaller roads, longer drives between services and more limited need for constant live routing, so saving maps in advance makes it easier to find parking, trail access points and the return road. That does not mean you will have no signal, only that offline maps reduce stress if the connection is uneven or you simply want to conserve data. [9]
What is the safest way to choose the data allowance?
Base it on how often you will navigate, call a ride, share photos and check transport rather than on the trip length alone. A short city break can still use plenty of data if you move between districts, while a rail-and-sightseeing trip may need more because you are constantly checking maps and tickets. Keep home SIM charges separate from the data eSIM so you can decide which line handles calls and which handles internet. [6] [7]
Can I rely on one eSIM for both city centers and quieter routes?
Often yes, but you should compare coverage for the exact places you plan to visit. Poland’s operator maps let you check approximate service by location and technology, and that is the right way to think about a mixed itinerary: city streets, rail platforms, forest access roads and mountain foothills are not the same environment. If your route crosses all of them, choose a plan with enough flexibility and a network you have checked beforehand. [2] [3] [4]
