How far will your data go?
Choose an allowance to see what it could cover. Quality, compression and background activity change actual usage.
With 3 GB, approximately…
Send photos
≈ 600 photosExample: 5 MB per photo
Upload your own videos
≈ 47 clipsExample: a 1-minute Full HD clip ≈ 63 MB
Watch video
≈ 1 hrHD example: 3 GB per hour
At standard quality: ≈ 4 hr 17 min
Make video calls
≈ 2 hr 46 min1:1 at 720p: ≈ 1.08 GB per hour
Each result uses the whole allowance for that one activity. The results do not add up: maps, messages and other apps share the same data.
Taking photos or recording video on your phone does not itself use mobile data. Sending, watching or backing them up over the mobile network does.

Where these estimates come from
Planning examples, not guaranteed totals. We use 1 GB = 1,000 MB, round down complete files and minutes, and exclude overhead, retries and background traffic.
- 5 MB is Verizon’s high-resolution photo example. Your files can be smaller after compression or much larger as originals or RAW. Check the actual file size on your phone. Verizon ↗
- 63 MB models a 1-minute H.264 Full HD export at 24–30 fps using YouTube’s recommended video and stereo audio bitrates. It is not a universal camera-file size or the cost of watching a clip. YouTube ↗
- Viewing examples use Netflix’s published rates: up to 0.7 GB/hr at Medium and up to 3 GB/hr in HD. Other apps and quality settings can differ; these are not YouTube playback rates. Netflix ↗
- The call example uses Zoom’s 1:1 720p bandwidth: 1.2 Mbps up and 1.2 Mbps down, together about 1.08 GB/hr. Group calls and higher resolutions can use more. Zoom ↗

On iOS 26, a Turn On Travel eSIM notification may appear after arrival. Choose the travel line for data and check whether you also want to keep your home line active. If no notification appears, use the manual steps below.
Check when your package starts: at payment, installation or first connection. If it starts on installation, install nearer your trip. Installing later does not postpone a package that started at payment.
These screens show settings on the models named below. Your operator and eSIM labels will differ. Screens retain the source language; each caption translates and identifies the control to use. Tap any image for a closer look.

Honor: SIM management → SIM 2 → eSIM name. Rename it if your MagicOS version offers this option.
Xiaomi / Redmi: Manage eSIM → your plan → Change nickname, if available.
Motorola: Open the new eSIM in SIM settings and use the edit-name option if available.
OPPO: Open the installed profile in eSIM settings and change its label if your ColorOS version allows it.
OnePlus: Open the installed eSIM and edit its name if the option is available.
Line name: Letisim Qatar

No second screen for your QR code?
If the scanner has a gallery button, save the QR from your order and choose that image. If your order includes manual installation details, choose Enter details manually and copy the fields exactly. The available methods depend on your phone and eSIM. If neither is available, contact support; do not scan a sample code from this guide or delete an installed eSIM.
Menu names can differ by phone model and system version.
04 / Operators
Mobile operators in Qatar
Compare network coverage separately from speed. A national result does not predict reception inside your hotel or along a mountain road.
CRA lists Ooredoo Qatar and Vodafone Qatar as the country’s public mobile service providers. For travellers, these are the national mobile networks to compare; check each operator’s own coverage map for the exact places you will visit.
Ooredoo Qatar
Ooredoo publishes its own network coverage information and says its 2G/3G/4G/5G-capable Supernet covers all municipalities of Qatar and reaches the desert. Use the operator map or coverage page to check the exact route and address you care about. [1] [2]
Check coverage ↗Vodafone Qatar
Vodafone provides a coverage checker with 4G and 5G layers. The map is predictive, so it is useful for planning but not a live guarantee; conditions indoors, on roads and in dunes can differ from the displayed estimate. [1] [3]
Check coverage ↗The network in your chosen package is what matters. This country comparison does not mean every plan includes every operator. 5G depends on the package, phone and local coverage.

- Doha
- Al Khor
- Khor Al Adaid
- Al Shamal
Doha
In Doha, a data eSIM is most useful for taxis, maps, hotel check-in and last-minute plan changes. The Corniche, museums and central districts are easy to pair with operator coverage tools, so travellers can check service around the exact hotel or attraction before buying. [5] [1] [2] [3]
Al Khor
For Al Khor, think in terms of city stops plus the drive in from Doha. A plan with solid city coverage helps with navigation and messaging, while the route should be checked before leaving because the trip can combine urban areas, coastal stretches and bus or road transfers. [6] [1] [2] [3]
Khor Al Adaid
Khor Al Adaid is an off-road desert trip, so the practical question is whether your phone stays usable on the road there and back. Download offline maps, save meeting points and check operator coverage before the excursion; do not assume the same signal as in Doha. [7] [1] [2] [3]
Al Shamal
Al Shamal suits travellers who want beaches and a northern coastal drive. Because the area is spread out, it helps to preload maps and check the operator’s coverage tool for the specific beach, road stop or hotel rather than relying on a general city-level assumption. [8] [1] [2] [3]

Why travellers use data in Qatar
Qatar’s two national mobile networks are Ooredoo Qatar and Vodafone Qatar, so the most useful choice is usually the plan that matches your route and the places you will actually visit.
In Doha, mobile data is handy for city transport, hotel check-in, ride-hailing and museum visits. Visit Qatar highlights central Doha areas such as the Corniche and surrounding districts, while Qatar Rail’s app supports metro and tram travel.
For coastal or desert outings, the practical step is to check coverage before you buy. Ooredoo and Vodafone both publish their own coverage tools, which helps you compare the exact hotel, road, beach or excursion point instead of relying on a broad country-wide assumption.

Before you buy
Coverage is easy to check before you buy
Qatar has two national mobile operators, so travellers can compare the operator coverage tools before choosing an eSIM plan. That matters most if your itinerary mixes Doha with coast, desert or longer road trips. A coverage page helps with planning; it does not replace the real conditions you will see at your exact hotel, road or beach. [1] [2] [3]
Doha city apps are useful for visitors
Visit Qatar publishes a travel app with attractions, events and trip guidance, and Qatar Rail provides an app for Doha Metro and Lusail Tram travel planning and ticket-related tasks. For visitors, these apps pair well with mobile data because they reduce guesswork when moving between museums, beaches and transit stations. [4] [9] [5]
06 / FAQ
Questions about eSIM in Qatar
Which mobile networks should I compare in Qatar?
The main national mobile operators are Ooredoo Qatar and Vodafone Qatar. For a traveller, the most useful step is to compare their own coverage tools for the places on your itinerary, because Doha, a beach resort and a desert excursion can each feel different on the ground. The right choice is usually the one that fits your actual route, not a generic claim about the whole country. [1] [2] [3]
Is Doha the best place to use a data eSIM?
Doha is one of the easiest places to benefit from mobile data because you are likely to use taxis, maps, hotel messaging and city transport more often than on a beach-only trip. Visit Qatar describes central areas such as the Corniche as easy to explore, and Qatar Rail’s app is useful for Doha Metro and Lusail Tram journeys. A data eSIM makes those tasks simpler. [5] [9] [4]
How should I plan for Khor Al Adaid or other desert trips?
For Khor Al Adaid, plan as if you may need navigation support on the road but less certainty once you leave the city. Visit Qatar describes it as an off-road desert destination, so the safest preparation is to download offline maps, save meeting points and check operator coverage before departure. Do not assume city-like service in every part of the excursion. [7] [1] [2] [3]
Do I need a different plan for Al Khor or Al Shamal?
You may not need a different product, but you should think differently about the route. Al Khor combines city use with a drive from Doha, while Al Shamal is a spread-out northern coastal area. That means maps and messaging are more important than headlines about speed. A plan with enough data for navigation and route changes is usually the practical priority. [6] [8] [1] [2] [3]
Can I check coverage before I arrive in Qatar?
Yes. Both Ooredoo and Vodafone publish coverage tools, and that is the best starting point before you travel. Use them to check the hotel, resort, beach or road you care about, then keep offline maps as a backup for areas where your itinerary moves away from Doha. A map is a planning tool, not a live promise. [2] [3]
Which apps are actually useful for visitors?
Visit Qatar is useful for attractions and trip ideas, while Qatar Rail helps with Doha Metro and Lusail Tram planning. Those apps are most helpful when paired with mobile data, because they reduce the amount of manual searching you need while moving around the city or connecting from transit to hotels and sights.
