How far will your data go?
Choose an allowance to see what it could cover. Quality, compression and background activity change actual usage.
With 3 GB, approximately…
Send photos
≈ 600 photosExample: 5 MB per photo
Upload your own videos
≈ 47 clipsExample: a 1-minute Full HD clip ≈ 63 MB
Watch video
≈ 1 hrHD example: 3 GB per hour
At standard quality: ≈ 4 hr 17 min
Make video calls
≈ 2 hr 46 min1:1 at 720p: ≈ 1.08 GB per hour
Each result uses the whole allowance for that one activity. The results do not add up: maps, messages and other apps share the same data.
Taking photos or recording video on your phone does not itself use mobile data. Sending, watching or backing them up over the mobile network does.

Where these estimates come from
Planning examples, not guaranteed totals. We use 1 GB = 1,000 MB, round down complete files and minutes, and exclude overhead, retries and background traffic.
- 5 MB is Verizon’s high-resolution photo example. Your files can be smaller after compression or much larger as originals or RAW. Check the actual file size on your phone. Verizon ↗
- 63 MB models a 1-minute H.264 Full HD export at 24–30 fps using YouTube’s recommended video and stereo audio bitrates. It is not a universal camera-file size or the cost of watching a clip. YouTube ↗
- Viewing examples use Netflix’s published rates: up to 0.7 GB/hr at Medium and up to 3 GB/hr in HD. Other apps and quality settings can differ; these are not YouTube playback rates. Netflix ↗
- The call example uses Zoom’s 1:1 720p bandwidth: 1.2 Mbps up and 1.2 Mbps down, together about 1.08 GB/hr. Group calls and higher resolutions can use more. Zoom ↗

On iOS 26, a Turn On Travel eSIM notification may appear after arrival. Choose the travel line for data and check whether you also want to keep your home line active. If no notification appears, use the manual steps below.
Check when your package starts: at payment, installation or first connection. If it starts on installation, install nearer your trip. Installing later does not postpone a package that started at payment.
These screens show settings on the models named below. Your operator and eSIM labels will differ. Screens retain the source language; each caption translates and identifies the control to use. Tap any image for a closer look.

No second screen for your QR code?
If the scanner has a gallery button, save the QR from your order and choose that image. If your order includes manual installation details, choose Enter details manually and copy the fields exactly. The available methods depend on your phone and eSIM. If neither is available, contact support; do not scan a sample code from this guide or delete an installed eSIM.

04 / Operators
Mobile operators in Singapore
Compare network coverage separately from speed. A national result does not predict reception inside your hotel or along a mountain road.
IMDA’s current license and quality-of-service pages identify four national mobile network operators in Singapore: Singtel Mobile, StarHub Mobile, M1 and SIMBA. This page uses that full national list.
Singtel Mobile
Singtel publishes a public 5G locations list, which is useful for checking named places and indoor sites before a trip. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]
Check coverage ↗StarHub Mobile
StarHub’s public support article states that its 5G network coverage is available indoors and across over 99% of outdoor areas in Singapore; travellers should still verify their own route and building use case. [1] [2] [3] [6]
Check coverage ↗M1
M1’s public FAQ and coverage references point travellers to its 5G coverage areas within Singapore. [1] [2] [3] [8] [9]
Check coverage ↗SIMBA
SIMBA’s coverage help page is public and includes practical network notes such as underground road tunnels, MRT lines and other connectivity references. [1] [2] [3] [7] [14]
Check coverage ↗The network in your chosen package is what matters. This country comparison does not mean every plan includes every operator. 5G depends on the package, phone and local coverage.

- Bugis
- Chinatown
- Sentosa
- East Region / Changi
Bugis
Bugis is a practical stop for city roaming: malls, street retail and MRT access make it easy to stay online, but indoor use is still worth checking if you plan to spend time in basements or dense shopping complexes. [5] [10] [11]
Chinatown
In Chinatown, data is most useful for walking between food streets, hotels and the MRT. A plan with reliable indoor performance is more practical than focusing only on headline 5G claims. [5] [10] [12]
Sentosa
Sentosa is a good place to choose a plan with strong indoor and outdoor consistency, because resort stays, beaches and attractions can mean switching between open areas, hotels and transport links. [4] [5] [7] [12]
East Region / Changi
For Changi and the East, check your route if you will move through the airport, Jewel and nearby hotel corridors. Those are places where public indoor coverage and station-level access matter more than the city average. [5] [10] [12]
Singapore · eSIM
What to know before you buy
Singapore has four national mobile network operators: Singtel Mobile, StarHub Mobile, M1 and SIMBA. Their official pages can help you check public coverage references, but the best choice still depends on where you will spend time, especially indoors, in tunnels and around transport hubs.
For travellers, the practical question is not only which brand has the biggest headline claim. It is whether the plan works well in the places you actually use it: airport buildings, MRT interchanges, shopping malls, resort areas and late-night food streets. That is why a public coverage page, a clear setup flow and a backup to Wireless@SG can matter more than marketing language.
Useful apps and travel tools
MyTransport.SG ↗
Official LTA transit app for journey planning, nearby stops, bus arrivals and MRT or road alerts. [10] [11]
Before you buy
Public transport works best with one travel app
MyTransport.SG is the official LTA app for journey planning, station exits, bus arrivals and alerts. It is especially useful if you want to move quickly between the airport, central districts and attractions without guessing train or bus times. [10] [11]
Use free public Wi‑Fi as a backup, not a plan
Wireless@SG is available in public places across Singapore, and Singtel and SIMBA both provide official setup guidance. It is handy for a backup connection, but a data eSIM is still the better choice for maps, rides and messaging on the move. [13] [14]
Indoor travel matters as much as outdoor travel here
Malls, MRT interchanges, tunnels and airport buildings are common parts of a visitor’s day. When comparing plans, look for public coverage pages that mention indoor locations, underground sections and station environments rather than relying only on broad island-wide claims. [5] [6] [7] [10]
06 / FAQ
Questions about eSIM in Singapore
Which mobile networks operate in Singapore?
IMDA’s current license and quality-of-service pages identify four national mobile network operators: Singtel Mobile, StarHub Mobile, M1 and SIMBA. That is the useful starting point for comparing eSIM options, but each plan can still differ in whether it supports roaming, local voice or extra services. For pure trip data, the main task is to match the network and the coverage reference to the places you will actually visit. [1] [2] [3]
Is one operator always the best for Singapore?
No single operator should be treated as a universal winner for every traveller. Singapore is compact, but indoor use, MRT travel, tunnels, malls and resort areas can change the experience a lot. A better approach is to check the operator’s public coverage page and then choose the plan whose network references fit your route, especially if you will spend time in Sentosa, the city centre or around Changi. [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]
Should I rely on public Wi‑Fi instead of buying data?
Public Wi‑Fi exists, including Wireless@SG hotspots in public places, but it is better treated as a backup. For navigation, ride-hailing and messaging, mobile data is more convenient because you do not have to stop and sign in every time you move between areas. If you plan to walk, use MRT and change districts often, a data eSIM is usually the smoother option. [10] [13] [14]
Do I need a special app for buses and MRT?
MyTransport.SG is the official LTA app for journey planning, train times, bus arrivals and local alerts. It is useful if you want to move around Singapore efficiently and avoid unnecessary transfers. A data eSIM makes the app much more practical, because you can check routes on the spot instead of downloading offline information first. [10] [11]
How should I choose between city centre, Sentosa and Changi use?
If your trip is mostly downtown, look for good indoor performance around malls, stations and food streets. For Sentosa, consistency across hotels, attractions and open areas is more important than a single citywide claim. For Changi and the East, check how the plan handles airport buildings and transfer routes. The most practical plan is the one that matches your busiest locations, not just the broadest advertising line. [5] [10] [12]
Can I use the eSIM immediately after purchase?
That depends on the product. Some eSIMs activate at purchase, some on first connection and some after installation, so it is best to check the plan details before you leave. A sensible rule is to install the profile before departure when possible, keep your home SIM separate from data settings, and turn on roaming only if the plan explicitly requires it. [10] [11]
