How far will your data go?
Choose an allowance to see what it could cover. Quality, compression and background activity change actual usage.
With 3 GB, approximately…
Send photos
≈ 600 photosExample: 5 MB per photo
Upload your own videos
≈ 47 clipsExample: a 1-minute Full HD clip ≈ 63 MB
Watch video
≈ 1 hrHD example: 3 GB per hour
At standard quality: ≈ 4 hr 17 min
Make video calls
≈ 2 hr 46 min1:1 at 720p: ≈ 1.08 GB per hour
Each result uses the whole allowance for that one activity. The results do not add up: maps, messages and other apps share the same data.
Taking photos or recording video on your phone does not itself use mobile data. Sending, watching or backing them up over the mobile network does.

Where these estimates come from
Planning examples, not guaranteed totals. We use 1 GB = 1,000 MB, round down complete files and minutes, and exclude overhead, retries and background traffic.
- 5 MB is Verizon’s high-resolution photo example. Your files can be smaller after compression or much larger as originals or RAW. Check the actual file size on your phone. Verizon ↗
- 63 MB models a 1-minute H.264 Full HD export at 24–30 fps using YouTube’s recommended video and stereo audio bitrates. It is not a universal camera-file size or the cost of watching a clip. YouTube ↗
- Viewing examples use Netflix’s published rates: up to 0.7 GB/hr at Medium and up to 3 GB/hr in HD. Other apps and quality settings can differ; these are not YouTube playback rates. Netflix ↗
- The call example uses Zoom’s 1:1 720p bandwidth: 1.2 Mbps up and 1.2 Mbps down, together about 1.08 GB/hr. Group calls and higher resolutions can use more. Zoom ↗

On iOS 26, a Turn On Travel eSIM notification may appear after arrival. Choose the travel line for data and check whether you also want to keep your home line active. If no notification appears, use the manual steps below.
Check when your package starts: at payment, installation or first connection. If it starts on installation, install nearer your trip. Installing later does not postpone a package that started at payment.
These screens show settings on the models named below. Your operator and eSIM labels will differ. Screens retain the source language; each caption translates and identifies the control to use. Tap any image for a closer look.

No second screen for your QR code?
If the scanner has a gallery button, save the QR from your order and choose that image. If your order includes manual installation details, choose Enter details manually and copy the fields exactly. The available methods depend on your phone and eSIM. If neither is available, contact support; do not scan a sample code from this guide or delete an installed eSIM.

04 / Operators
Mobile operators in Lithuania
Compare network coverage separately from speed. A national result does not predict reception inside your hotel or along a mountain road.
Lithuania has three national mobile networks identified by the regulator and coverage data published for Telia Lietuva, Tele2 and Bitė Lietuva. The operator pages also let travelers check address-level or map-based coverage, but any map is a forecast or operator tool rather than a guarantee indoors.
Telia Lietuva
Use Telia’s coverage map to check address-level signal expectations and 5G coverage on the operator site. [1] [3]
Check coverage ↗Tele2
Tele2’s map lets you check 4G/5G signal expectations by address and compare conditions on the operator site. [1] [4]
Check coverage ↗Bitė Lietuva
Bitė’s coverage map is useful for checking where the network is expected to be usable before you choose a package. [1] [5]
Check coverage ↗| Operator | Coverage Experience / 10 | Download · Mbps | Study date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Telia Lietuva | 7.9 | — | 2022-09[6] |
| Tele2 | 8.3 | — | 2022-09[6] |
| Bitė Lietuva | 6.9 | — | 2022-09[6] |
Coverage Experience is a score, not a percentage of territory. These dated averages are not promised speeds for your connection.
The network in your chosen package is what matters. This country comparison does not mean every plan includes every operator. 5G depends on the package, phone and local coverage.
05 / Coverage
Coverage across Lithuania
Check the addresses and roads you will actually use. Save maps and booking details before leaving Wi-Fi.
- Vilnius
- Kaunas
- Curonian Spit
- Aukštaitija National Park
Vilnius
For the capital, a data eSIM is most useful for navigation, ride-hailing and tram or bus planning. Check your operator map around your hotel, the Old Town and the airport transfer route, because indoor signal can differ from street-level coverage. [1] [3] [4] [5] [8] [9]
Kaunas
Kaunas is practical for a roaming or eSIM setup that covers city streets and rail links. Trafi and LTG Link are useful if your route combines local transport with intercity train travel. [7] [9] [10]
Curonian Spit
On the Curonian Spit, prepare before the crossing: download maps in advance, keep your route and accommodation details offline, and check the operator map for the ferry and resort area you will actually use. [7] [1] [3] [4] [5]
Aukštaitija National Park
In park areas, connectivity can vary more from road to road than from region to region. Keep an offline map, and rely on the operator coverage checker for the exact villages, lakeside lodgings or trailheads on your itinerary. [7] [1] [3] [4] [5]
Lithuania · eSIM
Overview
Lithuania has three national mobile networks: Telia Lietuva, Tele2 and Bitė Lietuva. The regulator publishes expected coverage zones for these operators, and each operator provides its own coverage checker, so you can compare where service should be available before you buy or activate an eSIM.
For travelers, the most useful approach is to match the package to the places you will actually use it: the hotel, the airport transfer, the city center, a ferry crossing or a park entrance. Country-level test results can help you understand the market, but they do not replace a check for your exact address or route.
Useful apps and travel tools
Trafi ↗
Multi-city transit app that currently works in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Panevėžys and Šiauliai, with route search, live schedules and Vilnius ticketing. [9]
LTG Link ↗
Official Lithuanian rail app for planning and managing train trips across the country. [10]
Before you buy
What you can check before buying
Lithuania’s regulator publishes expected coverage zones for the three national operators, and the operators provide their own address-based or map-based checkers. That means you can compare what each network expects to offer at your hotel, apartment or route stop before you activate a package. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]
Coverage, speed and real-world use are different
Opensignal’s Lithuania report shows that measured mobile experience can be summarized with coverage, availability and download-speed metrics, but those are country-level research results from a specific study period. For a trip, the useful step is still to check the exact place you will stay or travel through. [6] [1] [2]
City transport is easiest with live apps
Vilnius public transport schedules are available online, Trafi works in five Lithuanian cities, and LTG Link covers train travel. These tools are especially useful when your trip mixes airport transfer, city rides and longer intercity legs. [8] [9] [10]
06 / FAQ
Questions about eSIM in Lithuania
Which mobile networks are useful to compare before buying an eSIM?
Compare Telia Lietuva, Tele2 and Bitė Lietuva. Those are the three national mobile networks identified by the regulator, and each one offers a coverage tool that helps you check the places on your itinerary before you activate a package. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]
Can I rely on one coverage map for the whole country?
It is better not to. The regulator’s coverage data and the operators’ own maps are useful for comparison, but actual service can differ between a street, a hotel room and an open road. Check the exact address or stop where you will use data most often. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]
Which areas should I check first on a Lithuania trip?
Start with Vilnius, Kaunas and the Curonian Spit, then check any lakeside or forest stay if you plan to leave the main cities. Those are the places where travelers most often rely on navigation, transport and messaging, so a quick map check is worth doing in advance. [7] [8] [9] [10]
Do I need a separate app for trains or city transport?
Not always, but it helps. Trafi is useful for local travel in several Lithuanian cities, while LTG Link is the official rail app. If your trip includes both city rides and intercity trains, installing both can make planning easier. [9] [10] [8]
How should I choose a plan if I land and need internet immediately?
Pick a plan that you can activate quickly on arrival and keep your home SIM charges separate from data use. Then check the operator map for your airport transfer, hotel and first day’s route so you are not depending only on assumptions about city-wide coverage. [1] [3] [4] [5]
