How far will your data go?
Choose an allowance to see what it could cover. Quality, compression and background activity change actual usage.
With 3 GB, approximately…
Send photos
≈ 600 photosExample: 5 MB per photo
Upload your own videos
≈ 47 clipsExample: a 1-minute Full HD clip ≈ 63 MB
Watch video
≈ 1 hrHD example: 3 GB per hour
At standard quality: ≈ 4 hr 17 min
Make video calls
≈ 2 hr 46 min1:1 at 720p: ≈ 1.08 GB per hour
Each result uses the whole allowance for that one activity. The results do not add up: maps, messages and other apps share the same data.
Taking photos or recording video on your phone does not itself use mobile data. Sending, watching or backing them up over the mobile network does.

Where these estimates come from
Planning examples, not guaranteed totals. We use 1 GB = 1,000 MB, round down complete files and minutes, and exclude overhead, retries and background traffic.
- 5 MB is Verizon’s high-resolution photo example. Your files can be smaller after compression or much larger as originals or RAW. Check the actual file size on your phone. Verizon ↗
- 63 MB models a 1-minute H.264 Full HD export at 24–30 fps using YouTube’s recommended video and stereo audio bitrates. It is not a universal camera-file size or the cost of watching a clip. YouTube ↗
- Viewing examples use Netflix’s published rates: up to 0.7 GB/hr at Medium and up to 3 GB/hr in HD. Other apps and quality settings can differ; these are not YouTube playback rates. Netflix ↗
- The call example uses Zoom’s 1:1 720p bandwidth: 1.2 Mbps up and 1.2 Mbps down, together about 1.08 GB/hr. Group calls and higher resolutions can use more. Zoom ↗

Give the new line a clear name
For example, “Letisim Trinidad & Tobago”, so you can distinguish it from your home SIM. This is a label on your phone; it does not change the number or plan.
iPhone: Settings → Cellular / Mobile Service → new eSIM → Cellular Plan Label → Custom
Google Pixel / Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → new eSIM → Edit name
Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → new eSIM → Name
Huawei: SIM management → SIM 2 → your eSIM → Card name. You can keep the existing label if no rename option is shown.
Honor: SIM management → SIM 2 → eSIM name. Rename it if your MagicOS version offers this option.
Xiaomi / Redmi: Manage eSIM → your plan → Change nickname, if available.
Motorola: Open the new eSIM in SIM settings and use the edit-name option if available.
OPPO: Open the installed profile in eSIM settings and change its label if your ColorOS version allows it.
OnePlus: Open the installed eSIM and edit its name if the option is available.
Line name: Letisim Trinidad & Tobago

Check your connection
Turn off Wi-Fi and open a map or website. If it loads, mobile data is working. If it does not, turn airplane mode on for about 30 seconds, turn it off and wait for a connection. Recheck the selected line and package settings.

No second screen for your QR code?
If the scanner has a gallery button, save the QR from your order and choose that image. If your order includes manual installation details, choose Enter details manually and copy the fields exactly. The available methods depend on your phone and eSIM. If neither is available, contact support; do not scan a sample code from this guide or delete an installed eSIM.
Menu names can differ by phone model and system version.
04 / Operators
Mobile operators in Trinidad & Tobago
Compare network coverage separately from speed. A national result does not predict reception inside your hotel or along a mountain road.
The regulator’s market materials identify two domestic mobile operators: Digicel (Trinidad & Tobago) Limited and Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago, which operates the bmobile brand. Travellers should still compare each operator’s public coverage map against the exact streets, towns, airport transfers and island legs they plan to use.
Digicel
Use Digicel’s public coverage map to check service along your hotel area, city routes and any inter-island transfers. [1] [2] [3]
Check coverage ↗bmobile
Use bmobile’s coverage page to review the places where service is presented before relying on it for taxis, navigation or day trips. [1] [2] [4]
Check coverage ↗The network in your chosen package is what matters. This country comparison does not mean every plan includes every operator. 5G depends on the package, phone and local coverage.

- Trinidad
- Tobago
- Chaguanas and central Trinidad
Port of Spain
Port of Spain is the most practical place to confirm your setup after landing. Use mobile data for taxis, maps and same-day plans, then save offline maps before you move between the waterfront, the historic centre and nearby viewpoints. [5] [6]
Trinidad
For Trinidad, pick a plan that stays comfortable for airport pickups, central-corridor errands, beach stops and longer road days. Keep maps stored on the phone so your route still works if you move through areas where you would rather not depend on live navigation alone. [5] [6]
Tobago
Tobago works well for a compact island itinerary, but beach days, Scarborough visits and excursion points are easier with data for taxis, messaging and map checks. Install and test everything before leaving the airport so your phone is ready when plans change. [7]
Chaguanas and central Trinidad
Around Chaguanas and the central corridor, a good eSIM is one that keeps navigation, messaging and ride coordination smooth during errands, shopping and onward travel. If you will move between towns, think about battery use and hotspot sharing as well as raw data volume. [5] [6]

What to expect from mobile coverage
The domestic mobile market is described by the regulator as having two authorised providers: Digicel (Trinidad & Tobago) Limited and Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago, which operates bmobile. For a traveller, that means the most useful check is not a generic promise, but the exact places you expect to use data: hotel, airport transfer, city centre, beach road or ferry terminal. Public coverage pages from each operator help you compare how service is presented for your route.
On Trinidad, mobile data is especially useful when you move between the capital, the central corridor and the coast, or when you are heading out for sightseeing, festivals and evening plans. Tobago is smaller and simpler to navigate, but island days still work better when navigation, messaging and ride apps stay active without hunting for public Wi‑Fi. For inter-island travel, it is wise to save maps and booking details before you leave so the phone is ready when plans change.
Useful apps and travel tools
TT RideShare ↗
A local ride-hailing app for arranging verified drivers and in-chat support. It is useful for airport pickups and city trips when you want transport handled through the phone. [8]
MapFactor Navigator ↗
An offline-friendly map and navigation app with Trinidad and Tobago in its map set, useful when you want stored directions for driving days and weaker-signal stretches. [9]
Before you buy
Inter-island trips are easier with offline backup
Trips between Trinidad and Tobago can involve short flights or ferry connections. Save tickets, boarding details and maps before departure so you are not depending on busy airport or port Wi‑Fi when you need directions, messaging or timetable checks. [6] [7]
Mobile data is most useful for taxis and maps
Official tourism guidance for Trinidad points travellers toward taxis and other local transport, while Tobago’s tourism pages focus on getting around the island. That makes live data most valuable for navigation, driver contact and last-minute route changes. [5] [6] [7]
06 / FAQ
Questions about eSIM in Trinidad & Tobago
Which mobile networks should I compare before buying an eSIM?
The regulator’s market materials identify two domestic mobile providers: Digicel and Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago, which uses the bmobile brand. Before buying, compare each operator’s public coverage map against the places you will actually use most often, especially your hotel, airport transfer, city walks and island travel plans. That is more useful than choosing by brand name alone, because the better fit depends on where you need data. [1] [2] [3] [4]
Is one plan enough for both Trinidad and Tobago?
Often yes, if the plan gives you enough data for navigation, messaging and ride apps during the whole trip. Trinidad and Tobago is a two-island destination, so the right allowance depends on whether you are staying mostly in one city, mixing beaches and road trips, or moving between Trinidad and Tobago. If you expect to use mobile data for boarding updates, directions and transfers, choose a plan with a little spare capacity. [5] [6] [7]
Should I rely on hotel Wi‑Fi instead of mobile data?
Hotel Wi‑Fi is helpful, but it is not the best thing to depend on for getting around. Official tourism guidance for Trinidad and Tobago points to taxis, local transport and island travel, all of which are easier to manage when your phone still has data. Mobile internet keeps maps, booking confirmations and driver contact available while you are on the move. [5] [6] [7]
What should I download before I arrive?
Download your eSIM details, offline maps and any ride app you plan to use before arrival. That way you can land, confirm your setup and start using data immediately for directions and messaging. This is especially useful if your itinerary includes Tobago, because saved maps and booking details reduce stress when airport or port Wi‑Fi is busy. [6] [7] [8] [9]
Can I use a ride app in Trinidad & Tobago?
Yes. TT RideShare is a locally used ride-hailing app, and the Trinidad tourism site also points travellers toward taxis and other transport options. These apps are most useful in urban areas, for airport pickup and for times when you do not want to negotiate transport on the street. [6] [8]
What is the most practical setup approach for a short trip?
Install the eSIM before you travel, then keep your home SIM available only for the services you still need, such as regular calls or messages from your usual number. For the trip itself, use the eSIM for data so maps, taxi apps and chat work as soon as you connect. If your itinerary includes both islands, test the connection before you leave the airport or port area. [5] [6] [7]
